Job Description
An opportunity for an AI Use Case Portfolio Manager has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, Getafe (Madrid). Are you passionate about bridging the gap between cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence and transformative business value? Airbus Defence & Space is looking for a strategic and highly organized AI Use Case Portfolio Manager to join our Artificial Intelligence and Analytics department in Digital. In this pivotal role, you will act as the orchestrator of our AI evolution. You will not just manage a list of projects; you will design the framework that identifies, prioritizes, and scales high-impact AI initiatives across the enterprise. From the initial spark of an idea to the measurable realization of ROI, you will ensure that our AI investments are strategically aligned, ethically governed, and technically feasible and observable. You will be the vital link between our business units, Data Science teams, and executive leadership, ensuring that AI is not just a technological experiment, but a core driver of operational excellence and competitive advantage at Airbus ultimately measuring value. RESPONSIBILITIES 1. AI Portfolio Management & Value Orchestration
• Collaborate in the AI Use Case Portfolio workflow; from ideation through deployment and value realization.
• Design, implement, and continuously improve the AI use case intake, evaluation, approval, and governance framework.
• Develop prioritization methodologies taking into account factors like Business value, Strategic alignment, Technical feasibility, AI maturity, Resource availability, Delivery complexity, Risk profile
• Partner with business units to identify high-value AI opportunities that support strategic objectives.
• Support AIDA in building and maintaining the AI Use Case roadmap, ensuring optimal sequencing of initiatives.
• Monitor portfolio health, delivery progress, risks, dependencies, investment allocation, and business outcomes.
• Identify opportunities to consolidate duplicate initiatives and maximize reuse of AI capabilities across Airbus Defence & Space. 2. Value Realization & Portfolio Performance
• Develop standardized business cases for AI initiatives.
• Collaborate with Data Science and AI Engineering teams to identify reusable AI patterns and technology clusters establishing a dialogue to keep a good balance between standardisation and innovation
• Define KPIs and value realization frameworks for every AI use case.
• Track measurable business outcomes including cost reduction, productivity improvements, cycle-time reduction, revenue enablement, quality improvements and risk reduction
• Produce executive dashboards demonstrating AI portfolio performance and ROI.
• Continuously evaluate delivered business value against expected benefits and recommend portfolio adjustments. 3. AI Governance & Regulatory Compliance
• Establish and operate the Use Case AI governance framework.
• Ensure all AI Use Cases comply with Airbus Defence & Space governance standards, Responsible AI principles, and applicable regulations.
• Perform AI risk assessments and classification of AI Use Case implementations according to the EU AI Act.
• Ensure required documentation, transparency, traceability, human oversight, monitoring, and lifecycle controls are implemented for high-risk AI systems.
• Maintain governance templates, standards, policies, and approval processes that accelerate compliant AI delivery.
• Act as the primary governance contact during internal audits and external regulatory reviews. 4. Business Analysis & AI Opportunity Discovery
• Conduct in-depth discovery workshops with business stakeholders to understand operational challenges, strategic objectives, and opportunities for AI-enabled transformation.
• Analyze business processes and identify opportunities for automation, optimization, predictive analytics, and Generative AI.
• Translate business challenges into clearly defined AI use cases supported by measurable business cases.
• Produce current-state and future-state process documentation.
• Develop functional requirements, business requirements, user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
• Support AI Product Managers in defining product roadmaps based on validated business demand.
• Challenge business requirements by leveraging market trends, emerging AI capabilities, and industry best practices. SKILLS

Education:
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:
Proven experience in Product Management, Portfolio Management, or Business Analysis, specifically within a high-tech or highly regulated industrial environment.
• AI Literacy: A strong understanding of the AI lifecycle (MLOps), Generative AI capabilities, and the distinction between various AI modeling approaches.

Skills:
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, from engineers to executive management.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with the EU AI Act and frameworks for Responsible/Ethical AI is highly desirable.
