As a Toolchain Engineer within Kalray's Toolchain team, you will play a key role in developing, integrating, and maintaining the technologies that enable developers to fully leverage our innovative processor architectures.
You will contribute to the design, implementation, integration, and optimization of the complete software development ecosystem, including compilers, runtimes, libraries, debuggers, build systems, SDKs, profiling tools, and developer workflows, building upon leading open-source technologies such as GCC, LLVM, binutils, GDB, CMake, and related projects.
Working at the intersection of hardware and software, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, high-performance, and user-friendly development environments that accelerate application development on Kalray IPs.
Your main responsibilities will include:
· Collaborate proactively with Hardware and Software teams to define, integrate, package, and maintain toolchain components that improve developer productivity and user experience.
· Develop, debug, test, and optimize various toolchain components, including runtimes, libraries, debuggers, SDKs, build systems, profiling tools, and supporting infrastructure within large-scale Linux-based environments.
· Integrate and maintain technologies based on open-source ecosystems such as GCC, LLVM, binutils, GDB, and related projects, ensuring seamless operation across Kalray platforms.
· Design and improve build, packaging, deployment, and CI/CD workflows that enable efficient development, validation, and delivery of software toolchains.
· Work closely with architecture, firmware, runtime, and application teams to ensure coherent integration of all software development tools and libraries.
· Review peer code and promote high engineering standards, maintainability, automation, and software quality across the project.
· Provide technical guidance on toolchain architecture, software integration, and development best practices.
· Participate in architecture discussions and help drive technical decisions related to developer tools, software infrastructure, and platform enablement.
· Contribute to open-source communities where appropriate and stay current with advancements in toolchain technologies, software development infrastructure, and developer experience. What we're looking for:Technical
skills:
· Significant experience in software toolchains, including compilers, linkers, debuggers, runtimes, libraries, build systems, and packaging tools.
· Strong experience with Linux software development environments and systems programming in C/C++.
· Strong understanding of compiler internals, code generation, runtimes, and toolchain architectures.
· Proven experience with cross-compilation environments, embedded systems, or heterogeneous computing platforms.
· Familiarity with processor architectures and low-level software concepts.
· Excellent debugging, performance analysis, and problem-solving skills.
· Experience with CI/CD systems, automated testing, and software release processes. Profile:
· MSc or Engineering degree (BAC+5) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems or related field.
· 8+ years of experience in compiler development, toolchain engineering or low-level software development.
· Ability to work effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams.
· Strong communication and collaboration skills.
· Strong ownership mindset and autonomy, with the ability to drive complex technical topics from design to implementation.
· Rigorous approach to software quality, maintainability and engineering best practices.
· Passion for compiler technologies, open-source software and continuous learning.
