About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our AI Platform team, which is responsible for developing a comprehensive data platform including datalake, datawarehouse, data transformation orchestrator, and BI tools, alongside internal MLOps tools aimed at accelerating the development and deployment of machine learning and deep learning models—the AI Factory. The role covers all development stages: data capture, ingestion, transformation, modeling, and exposure. You will work on adapting our technical stack to meet the needs of various business verticals such as electro-optical and SAR satellite imagery, video, and Industry 4.0, while anticipating future user requirements and pushing the boundaries of existing systems. Key challenges include expanding our industrial inspection vertical by ingesting, structuring, and exposing high-volume, traceable, and quality-controlled industrial inspection data. You will also focus on enhancing the design and architecture of our data platform to connect with multiple data providers, enable autonomous data analysis by data scientists, and ensure high availability and maintainability of production tools. Qualifications
• More than 5 years of experience in data engineering.
• Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases, storage systems, and batch processing.
• Proficiency with modern data stack technologies.
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform, preferably AWS.
• Experience with Python and orchestration tools such as Airflow.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and PostGIS extensions.
• Knowledge of processing satellite images using tools like GDAL or rasterio.
• Experience with data formats such as rasters, videos, parquet files, and GeoJSON.
• Ability to work with datalake technologies including Apache Iceberg and Kafka.
• Experience with container orchestration and deployment tools such as Nomad and Github Actions.
• Knowledge of infrastructure automation tools like Ansible and Terraform is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve data pipeline incidents.
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to share knowledge and document best practices. Responsibilities
• Adapt and evolve the technical stack to support diverse business verticals and anticipate future needs.
• Ingest, structure, and expose industrial inspection data with strict requirements on volume, traceability, and quality.
• Improve the data platform’s architecture to connect with multiple data providers and facilitate data annotation.
• Monitor and maintain production tools ensuring high availability and reliability.
• Enable autonomous data analysis capabilities for data scientists.
• Ensure maintainability and scalability of internal libraries and tools.
• Process satellite images using appropriate geospatial libraries and tools.
• Build and maintain datasets for machine learning and deep learning applications.
• Participate actively in technological watch, knowledge sharing, code reviews, and team workshops.
• Document processes, architectures, and best practices to facilitate onboarding and collaboration.
• Deploy and operate the platform in industrial environments, including restricted or isolated client settings (on-premise and air-gapped).
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve data and pipeline-related incidents, proposing sustainable solutions. Benefits
• Opportunity to work with cutting-edge AI technologies in a leading aerospace and defense group.
• Collaborative and multidisciplinary team environment with recognized industry experts.
• Exposure to diverse data types and complex real-world applications.
• Continuous learning and professional development through knowledge sharing and innovation.
• Competitive compensation and benefits package aligned with industry standards.
• Flexible working conditions including on-premise and cloud deployment experiences. Equal Opportunity Safran.
