Phi Partners has been a trusted capital markets consultancy for more than 20 years, providing quantitative and technology expertise across front office, pricing and risk. We support more than 80 financial institutions across the buy-side and sell-side, working on complex, real-world problems across models, analytics, applications, data and cloud infrastructure, delivered through an international organisation built around regional hubs and specialist centres of excellence.
Phi Partners has nearshore Centres-of-Excellence which are specialised in respective 'Lines of Business' (LoBs). Our latest Budapest Centre-of-Excellence houses our Quant, Front Office & Risk Technology Services teams. Our services include front office pricing, risk engineering, as well as quant model development, model integration and model validation. Consultants in this location could be mentored by well-known industry-leading Front Office, Risk & Quantitative experts, and work for a variety of top-tier clients including the world's largest Investment Banks, Asset Management Companies, and market-leading Hedge Funds.
The Programme
Phi Partners is supporting a leading European capital markets institution on its Global Markets trading activities. As part of a regulatory remediation programme, the front-to-back processes and IT infrastructure supporting derivatives transactions have come under focus, together with the capacity, performance and observability of the underlying trading and risk platforms.
In this context, the Developer will operate transversally across a complex, high-volume trading environment, strengthening the observability, performance and capacity-planning capabilities of the derivatives processing and risk infrastructure. The role combines hands-on development with a strong performance-engineering mindset, working across heterogeneous technologies and hybrid infrastructures.
Roles and Responsibilities
As a Developer, you will be responsible for delivering solutions across your perimeter while meeting quality, performance and security requirements, with a particular focus on observability, high-volume performance and capacity planning.
Key responsibilities
include: Design, implement and maintain modern observability across the trading and risk platforms using Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry and the ELK stack. Develop scripts, data-ingestion pipelines and connectors/APIs, primarily in Python, to instrument and monitor complex distributed systems. Investigate and resolve performance issues in high-volume environments, addressing throughput, memory optimisation and low-latency requirements. Work across distributed architectures, high-performance compute grids and messaging middlewares (Kafka, CFT, etc.), supporting the derivatives front-to-back chain. Design capacity-planning models that correlate financial transaction volumes with compute-resource consumption, to anticipate and size infrastructure needs. Intervene transversally across applications built on varied technologies (C++, .
NET, etc.) and across hybrid Cloud / On-Premise infrastructures. Document technical solutions, automate and execute tests including integration testing, and ensure adherence to security, architecture and development standards. Key Skills Essential — Technical & Observability: Command of modern observability: Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, ELK stack. Development expertise: Python for scripting, ingestion and building connectors/APIs. Data storage: experience working with databases. Essential — Infrastructure & Performance: Solid knowledge of distributed architectures, high-performance compute grids and messaging middlewares (Kafka, CFT, etc.). Performance sensibility: understanding of high-volumetry challenges, memory optimisation, throughput and low latency. Essential — Posture & Cross-functional: Technological agility: ability to work transversally across varied technologies (C++, .
NET, etc.) and hybrid Cloud / On-Premise infrastructures. Analytical mindset: ability to design capacity-planning models correlating financial transaction volumes with compute-resource consumption. 5-10 years of relevant development experience in a demanding, high-volume environment Next steps This is an excellent opportunity to establish yourself within a rapidly expanding consultancy firm working on a key client in a long-term project. The right professional can grow their managerial and leadership abilities while continuing to actively contribute in a hands-on technical manner. The role provides exposure to one of the most critical teams of our client and an opportunity to work alongside high-profile financial experts and world class engineers from across the world.
