About The Role
Geospatial Consulting Group International (geocgi) is seeking a Geospatial Data Scientist to support the United Nations International Computing Centre (UNICC) Data and AI practice. The role supports geospatial data capabilities for spatial analysis, digital mapping, data publication, analytics, reporting, visualization and AI-enabled initiatives. Contract: six-month consultancy with possible extension. Remote, Monday–Friday on Central European Time (CET) business hours. The role is contingent on UNICC candidate acceptance.
Key responsibilities
Assess geospatial data readiness: raster and vector layers, administrative boundaries, coordinate systems, metadata and data quality. Design and implement data preparation workflows: geometry validation, reprojection, format normalization, clipping, joining, aggregation and spatial quality checks. Implement geoprocessing such as buffering, proximity analysis, spatial aggregation, classification and composite indexing. Publish outputs as GeoJSON, Shapefile, GeoTIFF, map services, OGC-aligned services or APIs, and advise API teams on OGC WMS/WFS/WCS and OGC API patterns. Work with data engineering and governance teams on ingestion, metadata, provenance and lineage.
Skills:
