Within a compact international team, you will support the Group's countries in developing this business. You help the local project managers qualify the sites, plan a datacenter project on these and provide them with the technical and environmental information locally required to file a planning application. The position is based in Montpellier, with travel mainly within Europe and occasionally to Brazil and Asia. You will join a new strategic business within an established group, with an international scope and an organization where decisions are made quickly. You are looking for a stimulating and empowering challenge, where innovation is rewarded? Join us and unleash your potential Main Tasks The Data Center Site Development Engineer will be responsible for:
• Assessing pre-qualified sites: size, topography, access, surroundings, existing infrastructure and available grid connection capacity;
• Identifying, with the local project manager, the planning, environmental, regulatory, technical and social constraints, as well as risks that could affect the project or its schedule;
• Designing and comparing several layout options for the data center and its utilities: electrical substation, cooling, backup generators, roads and security infrastructure;
• Producing site plans, layouts and 3D visualizations of the projects;
• Optimizing the layout to maximize the installable IT capacity of each site;
• Designing projects in a way that supports permit approval;
• Provide the local project manager with the data required to file a planning application (technical and graphical documents), participate with him/her in the exchanges with the local architects, engineering consultants and external experts, up to submission and further until grant;
• Integrating environmental and neighborhood considerations from the design stage to support local acceptance of the projects;
• Preparing technical and visual materials to present and promote the projects to stakeholders and future buyers. Skills Required The following skills are essential for the role:
• Bilingual proficiency in English, both written and spoken, and professional proficiency in French;
• Hands-on knowledge of data centers and their main utilities (power supply, cooling, backup power), gained through experience. The following skills may help you stand out among applicants:
• Hands-on design of industrial or complex infrastructure projects;
• Engineering knowledge (civil, electrical or energy engineering);
• Proficiency in 3D visualization tools;
• Understanding of planning and permitting procedures;
• Agility, responsiveness, rigor and autonomy.
