Paris, Ile-de-France 2H Offshore Temps plein
2H Offshore is a global engineering contractor specialising in the design, engineering and integrity management of offshore structures, topsides facilities, subsea components and riser and conductor systems for the offshore renewables and oil and gas sectors. Both market sectors require similar engineering skill sets, and our breadth of experience in offshore structures and environments allows us to provide expertise at all stages of a project: feasibility and concept design, detailed design, procurement management, fabrication support, installation support, monitoring, integrity management, asset life extension and decommissioning. 2H Offshore are seeking an Engineering Intern on a full time, 6 month fixed term contract basis. Based at our facility in Paris, we are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Engineer student with an aptitude for analytical work for its development in Oil & Energy Sector. This project aims to investigate the effect of disturbed kinematics which is the consideration of the structure of the vessel disturbing the flow field around the any risers or cables that are deployed around vessels. The project will look to develop an awareness of the develop a tool used to determine disturbed kinematics, there resulting effect on risers/cables, on strength and fatigue. Aim to develop screening tools/system that will enable user to determine for a given vessel and riser configuration when it is required to consider disturbed kinematics, and in other cases the estimated inaccuracies are negligible. Additionally, tools to enable checking of disturbed kinematics results, which be expected to be further developed. Various areas of work are expected:
• The project will review real world vessel and riser designs from 2H's experience, for example previous TLPs considered,
• Conducted diffraction analysis, considering disturbed kinematics. Cross checking results with previous result obtain from third parties,
• Using OrcaFlex (Orcina), to simulated riser and cable structures,
• Data analysis and machine learning techniques may be explored to develop screening tools.
• Develop a knowledge of wave kinematics and hydrodynamics of riser systems The successful candidate will perform design activities including calculations, dynamic structural analysis, and system configurations for a variety of subsea structures. She/he will study acceptable structural and fatigue performance of the designs. The role will also involve extensive communication of technical results and conclusions to other members of the team
- including meetings, presentations, and the preparation of written reports, and other deliverables. 2H uses several software packages, from specialist riser analysis tools such as OrcaFlex and OrcaWave, as well as developing internal tools, using python. Training will be provided throughout the process as required. Required:
• Master's degree in mechanical, structural, ocean engineering, or a related discipline.
• Aptitude and enthusiasm for carrying out analytical work efficiently
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Fluent in French and English
• Desire to take responsibility and ownership of tasks
• A desire to develop a career and expertise in the oil and gas/renewable industry
• Software experience with Microsoft Office, finite element analysis packages (e.g., Deeplines, Orcaflex, Flexcom), Hydrodynamic softwares (Diodore, Orcawave) and knowledge of computer programming ideally (Python)
