Role Description This full-time, on-site role based in Lyon focuses on managing pre-litigation debt collection activities for residential tenants and clients. The Chargé(e) de recouvrement précontentieux monitors overdue accounts, analyzes payment histories, and initiates appropriate recovery actions while respecting internal procedures and regulatory requirements. The role includes contacting customers by phone, email, and mail to negotiate payment plans, secure commitments, and follow up on agreed arrangements. The position also involves collaborating with internal teams (finance, legal, property management) to assess risk, prepare files for potential legal action, and contribute to improvement of collection processes. Reporting on key collection indicators and maintaining accurate, up-to-date records in the information systems are integral to the day-to-day activities. Qualifications
• Strong debt collection and cash collection skills, with experience managing overdue accounts in a structured, compliant manner.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities to negotiate payment solutions and maintain respectful, professional relationships with diverse customers.
• Solid understanding of finance and basic accounting principles relevant to rental income, arrears, and payment plans.
• Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
• Comfort working with CRM or collection software and standard office tools (e.g., Excel, email, databases).
• Knowledge of French tenancy regulations and pre-litigation procedures is an asset.
• Prior experience in real estate, social housing, or financial services collections is preferred.
• Ability to work on-site in Lyon, collaborate effectively in a team environment, and adapt to evolving processes and objectives.
