cutting-edge research in astronomy and astrophysics, initial and continuing education, and the dissemination of scientific knowledge. CENSUS is a pole of expertise for the scientific NewSpace at the Observatoire de Paris | PSL. Role Description This full-time Systems Engineer role focuses on supporting scientific NewSpace projects and infrastructures within the team CENSUS. Project teams come to CENSUS at various stage of development, from the concept to the operations. They need support in functional analysis, development plan, embedded electronics, testing and operations. Tasks include the analysis of scientific payloads and their associated architecture definition within a NewSpace platform, using our in-house methodology and tools. A specific role for the position is to develop a "Science Operation Center" paradigm within CENSUS. Another important task is to support education programs (mostly at Master's degree, interns, engineering projects, campaigns). This is an on-site position based in the Greater Paris Metropolitan Region (Meudon, 92). We expect a talented collaborator who can attend international conferences to showcase CENSUS know-how. • Systems engineering skills for complex projects, if possible scientific or NewSpace.
• IT infrastructure skills (servers, networks, storage), with an open-source culture (GAFAM-avoidance), Linux-based environments, scripting (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation.
• Ability to advise and orient a multidisciplinary team, to establish a clear and structured technical workflow.
• Master’s degree in Systems Engineering with strong Physics and Mathematics skills.
• Proficiency in English is a must, in French is beneficial.
• Willingness to serve as a public agent in an international scientific environment.
