$105,000 – $135,000 per year, DOE
CDG Maui is a design-build construction company building high-end custom homes on Maui. We plan carefully, build it right, and own the outcome. We’re growing and building a team where everyone knows their role and has the support to do it well.
You’ll price our work and buy it right. You build accurate estimates and budgets that protect margin, solicit and level subcontractor bids, and lead buyout. You also keep material pricing and lead times current so every job is bought on time. You report to Ryan Clow, Senior PM / Team Lead, and work closely with our PMs, architect, field team and Equipment & Materials Coordinator.
This is beautiful, high-end custom work on a team that plans before it builds, with a clear role, clear metrics and a leader invested in your growth. When you apply, tell us about an estimate or a buyout you handled that came in on budget, and how you made sure nothing was missed.
• Prepare conceptual and progressive estimates during design, then detailed takeoffs, estimates and bid comparisons; identify scope gaps
• Turn the approved estimate into the job budget and hand it to the PM in Buildertrend
• Solicit subcontractor bids and level them apples-to-apples; identify scope gaps, exclusions and allowances
• Negotiate bids, recommend awards for approval, and complete buyout with the PM
• Develop a bench of at least three qualified subcontractors per trade where available, with documented exceptions approved by the Senior PM
• Source and qualify trade partners: references, capabilities, licensing and insurance
• Build and maintain trade partner relationships and our roster in Buildertrend, with A/B/C ratings from PM and field feedback
• Source materials and suppliers; get pricing and lead times, and flag long-lead items early so orders are placed on time
• Price change orders and keep a historical cost database from closed jobs
• Five or more years of relevant construction experience, with demonstrated responsibility for estimating, subcontractor bid evaluation and material purchasing
• Custom residential construction experience strongly preferred
• International sourcing experience is a plus
• Demonstrated estimating accuracy, strong construction knowledge and subcontractor buyout experience, with examples to show it
• Reads plans and specs; catches missing scope before it becomes a change order
• Accurate, organized and on time; strong Excel and comfortable with Buildertrend or similar software
• Builds strong relationships with trades and suppliers
• Legally authorized to work in the United States (I-9 verification required at hire) Candidates with fewer years and exceptional demonstrated capability will also be considered. Preferred Qualifications
