OneRagtime
OneRagtime is a venture capital fund built as a platform. We source, fund and support early-stage European tech startups, and we run the entire investment process on tools and technology we build ourselves.
Since 2017, we've invested in 53+ startups, delivered 9 exits and backed two unicorns. We're powered by a community of 500+ investors. The team is 12+ people from 6 nationalities, based in Paris and Barcelona.
We believe technology combined with collective intelligence beats size. That belief is operational: our internal platform, Core Intelligence, runs sourcing, analysis, portfolio tracking and investor relations, and our team ships features in days by directing AI agents rather than in months of manual development.
The role
You are our AI champion. Embedded in the investment team, you use AI to accelerate three things: how we work, what we invest in, and how our founders build.
Within the fund. Our Investment, Finance & Legal, and Investor Relations teams run on workflows that can be automated. You spend time with them, you spot the friction, you ship the fix.
On our deal flow. AI shows up in every deck we get. You help us tell a real technical edge from a nice AI wrapper, and you build the sourcing engine that surfaces the best companies before their round.
With our founders. 50+ portfolio companies are rethinking their product and operations around AI right now. You're the person they call for a second opinion.
The role is deliberately hybrid. You code every day, and part of your week goes into investment discussions, due diligence, and conversations with our founders. If you're thinking about starting your own company one day, this is a front-row seat to see how 50+ companies raise, build, and scale.
You report directly to Stéphanie, our CEO, and you work as a pair with Fortune, our crack full stack developer based in Barcelona. Fortune's energy goes into building. As Tech Lead you bring the complementary half: product direction, the conversations with the business teams and our founders, and the final call on what gets built and why. You are both able to run the whole stack alone. With two engineers and five production codebases, we build the team so that there is no single point of failure, on purpose.
Your missions
The split below is indicative for year one. Automation comes first because it buys back the time for everything else. In year two, the deal flow and founder share roughly doubles, and we write that trajectory into your objectives from day one.
Automate the fund (~40%)
Work with the Investment, Finance & Legal, and Investor Relations teams, understand their workflows, and challenge the need behind the request.
Ship automation end to end: AI-generated quarterly reporting, LLM-based data extraction, document workflows, internal agents on our MCP server.
Prototype and pitch your own ideas: a portfolio KPI dashboard, an assistant for our investors, an agent that drafts first-pass analysis notes. If it creates value, build it.
Measure the impact. Hours given back to the team and cycle time removed are the metrics for this part of the role.
Run the platform (~30%)
Take ownership of five production codebases: investor platform, internal CRM, website, backend, and MCP server. Vue.js, Django/Python, PostgreSQL, deployed on Railway, Vercel and GitHub Actions.
Keep the platform our 500+ investors rely on reliable and secure: deployments, monitoring, access management, dependency and vulnerability audits. Shipping fast with AI agents raises the bar on code review.
Set the technical standards: what gets reviewed, what gets tested, what ships. Documentation and runbooks are in place, so you can pick up the stack fast.
Own the design, not just the code. Our site is the first thing a founder sees and our investor platform is what 500+ investors use every quarter. You own the interface decisions: layout, hierarchy, copy on screen, and the taste calls that make a product feel built rather than assembled. AI removes the excuse of not having a designer on staff.
Make us findable, by humans and by models. Founders now shortlist investors by asking ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity who backs their category. You own that surface: technical SEO on the site and portfolio pages, structured data, and the content architecture that gets OneRagtime quoted in generated answers rather than left out. Inbound deal flow is a build problem, not a comms problem.
Bonus, if it's your thing: produce the content itself. Short video, founder interviews, thesis posts, LinkedIn and X. Generative tools put this within reach of one person, and a fund that publishes well gets seen first by the founders it wants. Nobody expects this on day one — if you bring it, we'll give you the surface.
Sharpen our AI deal flow (~20%)
Build the sourcing engine. 2,000 profiles a month today. You make it spot the right AI companies before the round exists: commits, papers, hiring, who's quietly leaving which lab.
Own the technical read on AI deals: architecture, model strategy, data edge, cost structure, team velocity. You run the due diligence calls with founders and CTOs, and you write the note the investment team reads before committee. A sharp opinion, not a checklist.
Build your own thesis. Map segments, share your convictions, publish. Our best deals come from a view formed ahead of the market.
Support our founders on AI (~10%)
Advise our portfolio companies on AI: diagnostics, best practices, tooling and model recommendations.
Run occasional sessions for our founder community: workshops, office hours, staying on top of models and tooling.
Turn what works into shared assets: playbooks, benchmarks, a library of patterns every company we back can reuse. What you build for one founder serves the next twenty.
Who we're looking for
3 to 6 years of building. Startup, scale-up, agency, or your own company. What matters is what you've shipped, not where you shipped it.
You've owned production. Deployed, monitored, debugged at 11pm and lived with the consequences. On a platform two engineers keep alive, that experience is what makes the difference.
AI-native, with proof. You build daily with coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex), you have opinions on models and evaluation, and you can show what you've produced with them.
Full stack and autonomous. Frontend, backend, data, deployment. Knowing our stack (Vue.js, Django/Python, PostgreSQL) helps; learning speed matters more.
Comfortable in front of founders and CTOs. You walk into a founder's office, ask the right questions about their business, and you're useful within the hour.
A real curiosity for venture. Fund mechanics, valuations, startup KPIs. You want to understand how capital and companies actually work.
An eye for design. You can tell a good interface from a busy one, and you care about the difference. Layout, hierarchy, on-screen copy: show us a screen you're proud of.
You understand distribution. Technical SEO, structured data, and why a model cites one source and skips another. If you've made something rank, or get quoted by ChatGPT, show us.
Something you built without anyone asking. A side project, an automation, a product.
A voice, and the tools to carry it. Short video, thesis posts, LinkedIn and X, produced with generative tools. Not expected on day one, but if you bring it we'll give you the surface.
Security awareness. Investor and financial data lives on this platform. OWASP basics, dependency scanning and secrets management are a plus.
Fluent in French and English. Our business teams work in French, our ecosystem in English. Third language is a plus.
Location. Based in Paris, in the office with the team, eligible to work in France.
Why this role
A rare scope. You become the AI reference for a fund and 50+ companies. Few engineers get this kind of exposure this early in their career.
Entrepreneurship learned from the inside. Cap tables, term sheets, board discussions, unit economics, hiring, fundraising. You see what works and what breaks, across 50+ companies, in real time.
Real ownership. Small team, no layers, a direct line to the CEO.
Work that compounds. What you build for one team gets reused by all the others.
A network that stays with you. Founders, operators and investors across Europe and the US, and an open door the day you start your own company.
Our values
We build strong relationships based on trust.
We pursue excellence and efficiency from start to finish.
We believe in the power of technology and collective intelligence.
We grow with passion and curiosity.
We're resilient by design.
We take our work seriously, not ourselves.
Our hiring process
A 30-minute screening call: your background, what you've built and how you build.
A technical deep dive with Fortune (1 hour, remote): we walk through our architecture, then work through a realistic case with your AI tools: how you reason about production, code review and failure.
A portfolio case (1 hour): you meet one of our founders or a member of the investment team and dig into a real AI question with them.
A final conversation with Stéphanie, our CEO, and the team.
We reply to every application and close the process within three weeks.
