Toulouse – France – Full Time – Mid-Level
Would you like to be part of our specialist services group, which has been providing engineering support to space agencies and prime contractors for more than 40 years?
For our activities supporting the French Space Agency (CNES), we are looking for an Application Developer to join our team at our Terma office in Toulouse, France.
In this role, you will contribute to the design, development and maintenance of modern, scalable and secure applications operating in a cloud-native environment. You will work with a range of technologies covering frontend and backend development, real-time communication, data processing and containerized applications.
Your role in our team
As an Application Developer, you will be involved in the development and integration of web applications and backend services, ensuring their performance, reliability and security.
You will work across the application stack, from building user interfaces to developing APIs, implementing real-time communication and supporting deployment in containerized environments.
The activities include, among others:
• Developing modern web applications using React and TypeScript.
• Designing and implementing backend services using Python and Django.
• Developing and maintaining REST APIs using Django REST Framework for frontend and service-to-service communication.
• Implementing real-time communication and asynchronous functionalities using Django Channels and WebSockets.
• Developing event-driven services and messaging solutions using Redis Streams.
• Building and maintaining Dockerized applications and microservices.
• Developing applications designed to operate in Kubernetes/K3S environments.
• Working with PostgreSQL, DuckDB, Redis and data lake technologies for efficient data access and processing.
• Writing and maintaining unit, integration and end-to-end tests.
• Contributing to automated build, testing and deployment processes through GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Ensuring code quality and maintainability using tools such as SonarQube.
• Collaborating with DevSecOps teams to identify and address security vulnerabilities, including findings from JFrog Xray.
• Implementing application monitoring, metrics and health checks using Prometheus and Grafana.
• Applying secure coding principles and cloud-native development best practices.
• Collaborating with other developers and technical teams to deliver reliable and maintainable software solutions. Bring your expertise into play
Requirements:
• At least 2 years of professional experience in software development, preferably involving Python/Django, React and cloud-native technologies.
• Strong knowledge of React and TypeScript for frontend development.
• Strong experience with Python and Django for backend development.
• Experience designing, developing and integrating REST APIs, ideally using Django REST Framework.
• Experience with Django Channels and WebSockets for real-time communication.
• Experience developing and maintaining production-grade web applications.
• Good understanding of Docker and containerized applications.
• Familiarity with microservices and REST-based architectures.
• Good knowledge of PostgreSQL and database integration.
• Experience using Git and working with CI/CD practices.
• Knowledge of automated testing and software quality assurance.
• Understanding of distributed systems, asynchronous programming and event-driven architectures.
• Good understanding of application security principles and secure coding practices.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a technical team.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory.
• Knowledge of French is considered an advantage. Experience or interest in the following technologies is a plus, not a hard requirement:
• Kubernetes/K3S and Rancher.
• Advanced Django Channels, WebSockets and asynchronous Django applications.
• Redis Streams and Redis-backed real-time communication architectures.
• DuckDB and data lake architectures.
• Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring and observability.
• GitLab CI/CD, SonarQube and JFrog tools.
• Helm or other Kubernetes deployment and orchestration tools.
• GNSS, geospatial technologies or scientific applications.
• Experience working in the space sector or other technically demanding environments.
