Role Purpose
The SEN Tutor provides specialist academic and pastoral support to students with special educational needs (SEN) and other learning, wellbeing, or personal challenges that may affect their academic progress. The role aims to promote student success, inclusion, independence, and overall wellbeing through tailored coaching, guidance, and support interventions.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide individual support and regular coaching sessions for students with identified learning needs or additional support requirements.
• Support students in developing effective study skills, time management, organisation, planning, and self-regulation strategies.
• Assist students in building confidence, resilience, motivation, and independent learning skills.
• Identify barriers to learning and work collaboratively with students to develop appropriate support strategies and action plans.
• Monitor student engagement, academic progress, and wellbeing, providing ongoing guidance and follow-up where appropriate.
• Advise and signpost students to relevant internal and external support services.
• Coordinate and support the implementation of reasonable adjustments in collaboration with academic services teams.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of student support interventions.
• Contribute to the development of an inclusive learning environment that promotes equality of opportunity and student success.
• Raise awareness of inclusive practices and support academic staff in responding to the needs of students requiring additional support.
• Contribute to institutional initiatives related to student wellbeing, accessibility, retention, and inclusion. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential
• Experience in student support, coaching, mentoring, counselling, educational guidance, or a related field.
• Understanding of special educational needs, learning differences, student mental health, and wellbeing issues within higher education.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
• Ability to build effective and supportive relationships with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
• Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills. Desirable
• Qualification in coaching, counselling, psychology, education, disability support, or a related discipline.
• Experience working within higher education.
• Knowledge of inclusive learning practices and reasonable adjustment frameworks. Key Outcome The SEN Tutor empowers students to overcome barriers to learning, develop independence, and maximise their academic and personal potential, contributing to a supportive, inclusive, and student-centred learning environment at Istituto Marangoni Paris. Working Conditions
• The role is delivered in English, as the primary language of communication and student support.
• The role requires approximately 5 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate student needs and key periods within the academic calendar.
