Function: Study Engineer
Contract: Definite Object Contract (DOC)
Starting date: November 2026
Duration: 36 months
Workplace: IPVF – 18 bd Thomas Gobert, 91120 Palaiseau (France)
Education:
Master / Engineer diploma in Materials science and/or semiconductor Ref.: PR-FG-3-S IPVF – Photovoltaic Institute of Île-de-France IPVF is a scientific and technical pole dedicated to the research and development of solar technologies. It permanently hosts its own staff, as well as the employees of its partners and external companies. IPVF aims to become one of the world's leading centers for research, innovation, and training in the field of energy transition. IPVF Primary Objective Is To Improve The Performance And Competitiveness Of Photovoltaic Cells And Develop Breakthrough Technologies By Relying On Four Levers
• Ambitious research program.
• The hosting of more than 200 researchers and their laboratories on its Paris-Saclay site.
• A state-of-the-art technology platform (8,000 m²) open to the photovoltaic industry actors, with more than 100 state-of-the-art equipment units located in clean rooms.
• A training program mainly based on a master's degree, the supervision of PhD students, and continuing education. CONTEXT As part of the IPVF joint program, we are looking for an engineer specializing in vacuum deposition technique to participate in the manufacture of perovskite-based devices. At IPVF, an iterative approach has been adopted, based on a baseline manufacturing process that is regularly updated in line with scientific advances made in the dedicated research project. This approach allows for the development of essential expertise in perovskite technology and requires careful control of a wide range of deposition techniques, including several types of chemical and physical processes. MAIN MISSIONS The primary mission will oversee critical manufacturing steps involving processes such as laser etching, sputtering, and evaporation. In this context, the candidate will be partly responsible for the organization of the production effort and will be the main animator of the restitution meeting. Consequently, the candidate will also be responsible for quality of the samples produced, particularly for steps whose protocol has been validated as “standard.” This role is central, as reproducibility is one of the essential pillars of the deployment of innovative activities. The second mission consists of participating in research activities in collaboration with the researchers involved in this project in order to improve our current stack of materials and manufacturing methodology. In this context, the candidate will be required to interact with other members and will be a driving force in the organization of the experimental plan. In collaboration with researchers and work package leaders in the research program: – Organize and animate the operational meetings of research production – Carry-out substrate preparation and thin film deposition with vacuum processes for Perovskite based PV. – Perform characterization on layers constituting the hybrid perovskite-based device. – Ensure the quality and reproducibility of the manufacturing processes through. – Ensure accurate quality control of the manufacturing process along with adequate reporting. – Contribute to material or process innovation of the perovskite PV stack. – With the help of in-house tools, manage and analyze generated data. – Share results with the others IPVF project involved in perovskite PV, when relevant present at scientific events. Skills & Tools – Materials science and/or semiconductor – Materials characterization – Basic concept in photovoltaics Know-How – Vacuum deposition process – Material characterization (SEM, XRD) – Design of experiments – Formatting and communication of results CONTACT US CV and cover letter (with reference PR-FG-3-S) to be sent to: rh@ipvf.fr , jean.rousset@ipvf.fr
