About the Role
We are looking for a highly experienced, hands-on Senior C# / Unity Consultant to join an established Unity development team working on a complex industrial 3D application used for design, simulation, and configuration. The mission combines hands-on C# / Unity engineering with a strong AI developer enablement dimension. You will work directly alongside the existing developers, contributing to production code while helping them adopt practical AI-augmented software development practices. This is not about theoretical AI training. We are looking for someone who already uses AI extensively in their own engineering workflow and can lead by example , coaching the team through real development tasks such as coding, code understanding, refactoring, testing, debugging, and documentation. The assignment starts ASAP for 3–6 months , primarily remote with regular presence / travel to Lille, France . 🚀
Key Responsibilities
- Work hands-on alongside the existing Unity development team and contribute directly to the C# / Unity production codebase.
- Audit the existing codebase and identify architectural, performance, maintainability, and scalability bottlenecks.
- Refactor and improve complex application components to increase reliability, maintainability, and performance.
- Optimize memory usage, rendering, computation time, and management of large or complex 3D scenes.
- Support architecture decisions, technical modernization, testing strategies, APIs, and backend integrations.
- Assess current development workflows and identify where AI can meaningfully improve engineering productivity and quality.
- Introduce practical AI-assisted workflows for coding, codebase understanding, debugging, refactoring, testing, documentation, and code review.
- Pair with developers and demonstrate effective use of AI coding assistants, LLMs, and agentic development tools on real production challenges.
- Coach and mentor team members so they can confidently integrate AI into their day-to-day software development practices.
- Establish practical AI development patterns and workflows that the team can continue using independently after the assignment. 🎯 What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally at Senior, Lead, Staff, Principal, Architect, or hands-on Consultant level.
- Experience with complex, performance-intensive, or large-scale 3D applications.
- Proven expertise in software architecture, code auditing, refactoring, technical modernization, and performance optimization.
- Strong understanding of memory, rendering, computation, and performance challenges within complex Unity environments.
- Current, hands-on experience using Generative AI / LLMs as part of software development workflows.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, training, or helping engineering teams adopt AI-augmented development practices.
- Practical experience with AI coding assistants, AI-native IDEs, or agentic development workflows such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar tools.
- Ability to combine hands-on coding with technical leadership, knowledge sharing, and developer enablement.
- Professional fluency in French and English.
- Ability to work autonomously in a consulting environment and travel regularly to Lille. 🌟 Why Join? This assignment offers the opportunity to have an impact on both a sophisticated 3D software platform and the way an experienced engineering team builds software. You will combine deep hands-on C# / Unity engineering with practical AI enablement, helping developers integrate AI into their everyday workflows through real production work rather than theoretical training. The objective is to leave behind a stronger codebase, better engineering practices, and a team that is more autonomous and effective in using AI-augmented software development. 📩 Application Process Apply on LinkedIn or via DM (to M. Salomé Nsingi Kinkela or Jun Butel Enso). When applying, please highlight any experience where you have trained, coached, mentored, or helped software engineering teams adopt
