Lloyd’s Insurance Company (LIC) asa(re)insurancecompany,operatingasalegalseparateentitywithitsownP&L,governancestructure andsupervisory measures to ensure the efficient and prudent management of its business and employees. It is regulated by the National Bank of Belgium (NBB) and the Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) as well as the PRA in relation to its UK branch.

Lloyd’s France is a branch office of LIC and is subject to local regulatory and reporting requirements to the Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution (ACPR).

The Western Europe (WE) region encompasses France, Monaco, Luxembourg, Belgium, Netherlands, and Ireland covering insurance and reinsurance business into LIC as well as business that is accessible to Lloyd’s Underwriter’s on a cross-border reinsurance basis.

We are looking for someone who will be responsible for the support and implementation of Lloyd’s Commercial strategy across the Western Europe (WE) region working with other Country Managers / teams in their respective roles and accountabilities in a manner that achieves Lloyd’s operational, financial and regulatory requirements and targets both for LIC and the wider Corporation.

Main Roles & Responsibilities include:

Understand and promote Lloyd’s Commercial strategy. 

Implement strategies aimed at broadening Lloyd’s market reach and visibility, in the process creating new opportunities. Current activities supporting this outcome include Lloyd’s Broker Academy, Lloyd’s Lab, Captive syndicates and the New Entrants team. 

Support the European team by enhancing relationships with existing and potential market participants (e.g. London market associations, Europe industry trade associations, key brokers, local service companies and universities with risk management and insurance programs). Work with colleagues to determine where Lloyd’s can support mutual success with these stakeholders.

Work with senior colleagues to establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for assessing the effectiveness of Europe market development initiatives, generate reports and present insights to colleagues. 

Build understanding of Lloyd’s across the European market. Find the most effective and efficient channels to ensure retail and wholesale brokers understand and feel comfortable accessing the Lloyd’s market. 

Support Western Europe Country Managers to successfully deliver Lloyd’s commercial strategy across the region focused on unlocking new distribution and attracting new capital.

Build and maintain key commercial relationships across the region with key stakeholders – including brokers, customers (incl. cedents), MGAs, managing agents, market associations, and local / regional regulators and government bodies.

Monitor and analyse market trends, competition and customer needs, to inform the adaptation of the strategy to local market context.

Collaborate with diverse functions across LIC and the Corporation of Lloyd’s. incl. market development, strategy and innovation, performance management, operations, risk and finance teams to design and support in the delivery of regional propositions that meet customer requirements.

In collaboration with the Marketing & Communications function and the WE promote and support the Lloyd’s Europe and wider Lloyd’s brand and value proposition through; Communications and events activities tailored to the needs of the WE region.

Skills:

Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and capability in Microsoft Office. Sense of urgency. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to simultaneously manage multiple assignments and deadlines. Ability to develop internal and external business relationships, demonstrating high professional standards together with influencing and negotiating skills. Ability to act in a commercial, customer-focused manner.  A team player.

Knowledge:

Awareness of key challenges and opportunities in the French market and the broader Western Region Good understanding of the Lloyd’s market. Interest in the broader financial services industry in Europe and globally.
