Community Manager – Open Source – Paris – Hybrid - €100,000
Our client is seeking a Community Manager to join a newly established tech organisation with multi-million funding, dedicated to shaping the global AI ecosystem. The organisation focuses on outcomes that genuinely matter to people and communities, placing transparency, equity, and public benefit at the heart of everything it builds.
They are looking for an individual to become their first Open-Source Community Manager, responsible for defining how their open-source platforms, tools, and communities grow and how they are governed. You will play a key role in shaping how builders, researchers, and institutions engage with the organisation, helping to turn open-source projects into thriving, sustainable communities rather than just code repositories.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Key requirements:
- Strong experience as a Community Manager, Developer Advocate, Developer Relations role
- Demonstrated commitment to open source, open standards, and collaborative development practices.
- Strong technical knowledge, and ideally a background as software engineer, devops engineer or similar role.
- Practical working knowledge of version control systems, including Git and GitHub/GitLab workflows.
- Proven experience moderating and stewarding community spaces such as forums, issue trackers, mailing lists, and chat platforms (e.g. GitHub Discussions, Slack/Discord, Discourse).
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and stakeholders concurrently.
- Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills.
- A genuine commitment to advancing AI in the public interest.
Nice to haves
- Experience working with public-sector, academic, or mission-driven organisations.
- Experience supporting or engaging global and Global Majority communities.
- Fluency in French or additional languages beyond English.
