This is an exciting role within IFF’s Responsible Sourcing (RS) team. IFF has set 2030 goals such as ensuring no conversion, deforestation free and regenerative ecosystems in its strategic supply chains, promoting human rights and animal welfare and ensuring prosperous and equitable value chains.  This multi-year commitment requires the responsible sourcing team to work collaboratively across IFF’s functions and segments. 


This role reports to the Global Sustainability, Responsible Sourcing Director with a dotted line to LMR General Manager and supports the implementation of the global responsible sourcing strategy and policy. The role will drive and support IFF’s development and deployment of LMR’s supplier engagement and certifications strategy on naturals.  


Responsibility of implementation of responsible sourcing strategy, policies and programs is shared with Global Procurement and Business units and requires close collaboration with other responsible sourcing managers.


Overall, the role will contribute to embed a responsible sourcing approach across the business, to achieve the global RS goals and will improve transparency and traceability across IFF’s strategic raw materials supply chains at LMR.

 


Key Responsibilities:

 

 

• 30% (% of Time) Understand LMR business strategy and communicate needs for sustainability team to support  and monitor LMR strategic ingredients assessment following global responsible sourcing program. Support responsible sourcing program for LMR supply chains:  conduct desk assessment with RS risk tool, report high risk supply chains and supplier engagement, set up training of strategic suppliers, support human right risk assessment, assess supplier capabilities and propose remediation action plan in partnership with RS team, Global Procurement and LMR agronomists. Engage internally with stakeholders (commercial and functional teams), including training and development programs to build awareness on certifications ;


• 40% Design the strategy, lead and manage the certification program of strategic naturals ingredients in collaboration with Global Procurement and Responsible sourcing according to IFF Responsible Sourcing Policy and 2030 goals towards no deforestation and the promotion of regenerative agriculture. The mission includes the development of a framework and roadmap as determined by leadership (Responsible Sourcing Steering Committee) ;


• 20% Conduct field visits to strategic naturals supply chains including diagnostic and pre assessments; engage with local partners (suppliers and auditors) on customer audits, verifications and certifications related topics ;

 

• 10% Conduct benchmarking of certifications on naturals ingredients, competition analysis and review of strategic customers’ strategy on certifications and proprietary standard in collaboration with commercial teams. Lead partnership with certification and verification bodies. Engage externally with partners (suppliers and auditors) and customers on certifications and compliance to customers’ standards including pre assessments, training and capability building, and support to corrective active plans in strategic supply chains.

 


 

Job Requirements

 

•  Bachelor’s degree in a related field including business management, policy, sustainability or responsible sourcing/procurement ;
•  5+ years of experience in a Corporate Sustainability or Responsible Sourcing role within a multi-national chemical/manufacturing, naturals, certification body or CPG organization ;
•  Prior work experience in certification management or as auditor, with a good understanding of the core Business & Human Rights standards in the global geopolitical and economic context and partnership with internal stakeholders including Legal, Procurement, and Communications ;
•  Familiarity of human or labour rights issues, including modern slavery, living wages, fair trade, and worker welfare ;
•  Familiarity of environmental challenges, including good agricultural practices ;
•  Exceptional project management and reporting skills and attention to detail ;
•  Intercultural skills ;
•  Ability to present and work effectively with others at all levels: executive, technical, commercial and with external partners including local suppliers and auditors ;
•  Fluency in French and English, both written and verbal. 

 


The candidate must have excellent communication skills in English with adaptability in a multi-cultural context. The candidate should be able to engage stakeholders in the strategy – and build strong working relations with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate should be a strategic and high-level thinker, but also be able to pull up the sleeves and get the work done when required. The candidate should have ability to understand the overall vision around corporate sustainability while tracking and managing details of implementing actions.  The candidate is expected to be analytical, systematic, flexible in teamwork, and able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously. On the personal level, we are looking for a highly motivated team player with good interpersonal skills, cooperative and flexible, self-motivated, excellent at reaching out and influencing across a matrix organization.  The candidate should be able to navigate in complex companies. Key competencies include Customer Focus, Drive for Results, Strategic Ability and Business Acumen.
