We are looking for a Head of IP to join our team


You will be responsible for managing and optimizing the company’s current IP portfolio aligned with the overall company’s corporate objectives. You will also provide strategic guidance and counsel to the executive leadership team on IP-related matters, including risk assessment and competitive analysis.


Missions


1.Manage and optimize the company’s current IP portfolio aligned with the overall company’s corporate objectives


  • Work closely with the R&D and business development teams to evaluate the patentability and support the development and advancement of new technologies and innovations
  • With external patent attorneys, determine patent filing and prosecution strategies in line with legal trends and change in laws
  • Manage information and reporting related to the company’s IP portfolio, including the maintenance of a database documenting know-how/trade secrets, filings, deadlines, renewals etc.
  • Participate in drafting / reviewing IP provisions in contractual agreements
  • Interact regularly with third party partners regarding intellectual property strategy and activities resulting from collaborative product development and commercialization


2.Provide strategic guidance and counsel to the executive leadership team on IP-related matters, including risk assessment and competitive analysis


  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive intelligence to identify opportunities and risks related to intellectual property
  • Perform FTO and validity analyses
  • Evaluate the potential of an IP asset
  • Perform and / or coordinate intellectual property due diligence as part of investigations of companies and / or technologies of interest
  • Anticipate IP disputes, monitor and report on potential risks, manage effective litigation when necessary


3.Promote IP within the company


  • Train employees
  • Manage the IP team
  • Implement and / or review IP related policies


Profile


  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Biology, or Pharmaceutical Science
  • Qualified European or US Patent Attorney highly preferered
  • 6+ years of proven experience in a related function, prior in-house experience in a pharmaceutical company
  • Experience in drug delivery systems is a real plus
  • Experience in oppositions / litigations a real plus
  • Fluent in English
  • Good knowledge of French is a plus
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication, and collaborative skills necessary to effectively partner with and advise researchers, scientists, and other stakeholders in cross-functional teams
  • Ability to analyse and synthesize
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines, and manage multi-dimensional projects in a fast-paced and evolving environment
  • Pro-active
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience with patent databases (ORBIT/PATBASE/PATSNAP)
  • Understanding of regulatory procedures is a plus
