This role owns the pricing system behind every Photoroom app, from design and coding to watching how releases perform in production. A strong candidate has several years of Django and Django Rest Framework work, has handled large relational databases, and has run subscription billing with tools like Stripe or RevenueCat. They also work well with frontend engineers, pick practical solutions over perfect ones, and make product calls without waiting to be told.
How it fits the AI era
Photoroom's product is built on generative AI, and pricing is how that costly image work becomes a sustainable business for millions of users. AI tools can speed up routine endpoint and query work, but the posting centers on judgment: schema design, safe migrations, latency, and deciding what to change based on real usage. Those calls about trade-offs and customers stay with people.
How it builds AI experience
The role is not about building models, but it sits close to a product where AI image editing drives usage and cost. A person here would learn how an AI product is packaged, metered and priced across mobile, web and API. To build more AI experience, try using the product, studying how usage patterns shape plans, and using coding assistants for backend work.
Worth showing
- Django and DRF at scale
- Large PostgreSQL schema and migrations
- Stripe or RevenueCat billing
- Latency tuning of live endpoints
- Pragmatic, fast iteration with ownership
