Job Title: Principal Architect, AI Assistant
Within the AI Hub, a newly created team at Amadeus, the AI Assistant Speedboat is building the next generation of travel capabilities that enable major AI assistants such as Microsoft 365 Copilot, Google Gemini, OpenAI ChatGPT, Perplexity, and future AI ecosystems to interact seamlessly with Amadeus products and services. Our mission is to make travel bookable, serviceable, and discoverable through AI-native experiences by exposing Amadeus capabilities through scalable APIs, agent-ready services, semantic interfaces, and orchestration layers that can be consumed by external AI platforms. As a Solution Architect, you will help define how Amadeus participates in the evolving AI ecosystem, ensuring our travel capabilities can be discovered, understood, and executed reliably by AI agents operating on behalf of travelers. This is a strategic role at the intersection of AI, platform engineering, travel technology, and ecosystem partnerships.
Role Purpose
The Solution Architect is responsible for defining the architecture of AI-native travel capabilities that can be consumed by external AI assistants and agentic platforms. The role focuses on designing scalable, production‑grade solutions that expose Amadeus services through modern interaction paradigms, including APIs, AI agents, tool calling frameworks, semantic interfaces, knowledge layers, and orchestration services. Working closely with Product Managers, Engineering teams, Business Units, and strategic partners, the Solution Architect ensures that Amadeus capabilities are easily consumable, secure, observable, and scalable across a rapidly evolving AI ecosystem. The position plays a critical role in positioning Amadeus as the leading travel technology provider powering AI-assisted travel experiences globally.
Key Responsibilities
- AI‑Native Solution Architecture Design end‑to‑end architectures enabling AI assistants to discover, understand, and execute Amadeus travel capabilities. Define scalable architectures for exposing booking, servicing, shopping, trip management, and travel intelligence capabilities to external AI ecosystems. Design interaction models between AI assistants, AI agents, orchestration layers, APIs, travel services, and enterprise systems. Drive architecture decisions balancing scalability, security, latency, resilience, and cost efficiency. Produce architecture blueprints, technical roadmaps, and implementation guidance.
- Ecosystem & Agent Enablement Define standards and patterns for exposing Amadeus capabilities to external AI platforms. Design agent‑ready services leveraging emerging protocols and frameworks for AI interoperability. Collaborate with strategic technology partners such as Microsoft, Google, OpenAI, AWS, and others to ensure seamless integration. Define capability boundaries, tool interfaces, metadata models, and discoverability mechanisms allowing AI agents to consume Amadeus services effectively. Evaluate emerging standards, protocols, and technologies shaping the AI ecosystem.
- Platform Integration & Industrialization Ensure solutions integrate seamlessly with the Amadeus Open Platform and enterprise architecture standards. Define reusable architectural patterns enabling rapid onboarding of new travel capabilities. Ensure production readiness through observability, monitoring, resilience, governance, and operational controls. Partner with platform and system teams to accelerate industrialization and global adoption.
- Technical Leadership Act as the architectural reference for the AI Assistant Speedboat. Lead solution reviews and technical decision‑making processes. Mentor engineering teams and promote engineering excellence. Collaborate closely with Product Management to shape strategy and delivery roadmaps. Influence architecture across multiple business units and technology organizations.
- Delivery Excellence Support initiatives from ideation and prototyping through large‑scale production deployment. Ensure solutions meet enterprise requirements for performance, availability, security, compliance, and cost efficiency. Establish architecture guardrails and best practices for AI‑native products. Drive continuous improvement through feedback loops, operational insights, and platform evolution.
Required Skills & Experience
- Must Have: Proven experience designing enterprise‑scale distributed systems and complex integration architectures.
- Strong expertise in API‑first, service‑oriented, and cloud‑native architectures.
- Experience defining architecture for externally consumed platforms, ecosystems, or marketplaces.
- Deep understanding of integration patterns, interoperability, and system orchestration.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
