Rural Family Medicine Obstetrics Fellow

Job Summary

The UW DFMCH Rural Family Medicine Obstetrics (FMOB) fellowship is a 24‑month program that provides surgical training and high‑risk obstetrical experience for family physicians who plan to care for a rural population. It enables physicians to enhance clinical, teaching, scholarly, and leadership skills in obstetrics.

This position involves research, clinical care, and teaching. It is 80% academic time and 20% clinical care. Clinical responsibilities include patient care at a Family Medicine Clinic, precepting residents, and covering family practice services as needed.

Work is conducted onsite at a designated campus location.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Participate in administrative and committee work supporting the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health.
• Work collegially with other faculty members.
• Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.

Employment Details

Terminal, 12‑month appointment with an anticipated additional 12 months based on program needs.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate must pass a caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and again every four years.

Compensation

Starting salary $80,837 annually, aligning with approved PGY stipend rates.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of a US Family Medicine residency. Applicants may apply while completing their final year of residency.
• WI medical license by start date.
• Board‑certified or board‑eligible in Family Medicine by start date.

Education

MD or DO, or equivalent required.
