Thermosphr is a ClimateTech company that cuts energy use in commercial buildings by 20 to 30 %, within weeks, by piloting existing HVAC equipment with predictive control (thermodynamic modelling, Model Predictive Control, AI and electrical flexibility).
We already optimise more than 2 million m² across Europe: offices, shopping centres, universities and warehouses. We are a team of about 20 engineers, energy experts and software developers based in Paris and Berlin, and we are growing fast.
The role
You make existing HVAC installations controllable from the Thermosphr platform, from the first connection to the handover of control to our Energy Managers.
Every building is different: BMS brands, protocols, network architectures and integrators all vary. Your job is to understand an installation you have never seen, reconstruct how each piece of equipment is commanded, and find the way to make it accessible to our platform. You pull the thread of a problem until you reach a working solution or a clear conclusion.
You will regularly be on client sites in France, but the core of the job is understanding and integration, not installation.
What you will do
- Understand the architecture. Analyse network and supervision architectures to see how systems exchange data, and reconstruct the command chain of each piece of equipment.
- Work the protocols. Use BACnet IP / MS/TP and Modbus to identify accessible points and interpret the data and commands available. Obtain the exchange tables (points lists) you need from integrators and maintenance contractors.
- Make equipment controllable. Enable control of boilers, chillers and AHUs from the platform: operating states, start/stop commands, heating curves and temperature setpoints.
- Design the connection. Choose connection solutions and gateways suited to each existing installation, given its protocols, brands and constraints.
- Deploy and test. Take part in installing our connectivity box, run functional tests, and resolve network, configuration and point-correspondence issues with building owners, integrators and site contacts.
- Map with AI tooling. Select and map points with our AI-assisted tools, reviewing and correcting what they propose rather than mapping point by point.
- Validate every write. Test each command point through a documented test plan before handover. No command reaches an Energy Manager untested.
- Hand over clearly. Document what can and cannot be controlled on each site, and why, for our Energy Managers.
- Work securely. Follow client IT/OT security rules and our ISO 27001 processes: approved tools for site credentials, agreed test plans for any write to equipment.
- Build what comes next. Work with R&D on new connectivity solutions and make each deployment faster than the last.
Success in this role looks like
Each building is handed over with a documented list of controllable equipment, its limits and a complete test log.
Energy Managers start piloting without rework on the integration.
When a building cannot be made controllable as it is, you deliver a clear diagnosis and a costed path (gateway, integrator work, partner) within 3 days.
The playbook gets better with every site you deliver.
What matters most
Strong understanding of networks, communication protocols and supervision architectures.
Ability to use technical documentation and exchange tables to understand what data and commands a piece of equipment offers.
An analytical mind: you reconstruct how an installation works, spot what is missing and ask the right questions.
Technical curiosity, fast learning and persistence to dig into a problem until you have built a solution.
Openness to any equipment and manufacturer, and the ability to transfer what you know to new environments.
Autonomy, initiative and rigour in solving problems and following deployments through.
Clear communication with internal teams, clients, integrators and maintenance contractors.
Fluent French and good working English. German is a plus.
Background
A technical degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s or engineering school) in networks, industrial IT, electrical engineering, automation, energy or a similar field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
1 to 3 years of experience as a guide; we judge skills and autonomy, not years.
Backgrounds in industry, BMS, electrical engineering or energy are all welcome. We look at concrete achievements in equipment communication, networks, supervision and technical problem-solving.
Experience with industrial protocols such as Modbus or Profibus is a transferable base. Operational knowledge of BACnet is particularly relevant.
Building, energy and HVAC knowledge can be learned with us.
