A Forward Deployed Engineer typically works directly with customers to turn a product into working solutions, often writing code, running integrations and debugging in live settings. A strong candidate brings solid software engineering skills, comfort talking with technical customers, and the ability to scope a problem and ship a fix quickly. Here that means helping customers and partners connect a real time web search API into their AI applications and agents.
How it fits the AI era
AI makes much of the routine integration work faster, so the role leans more on judgment about what a customer actually needs and on getting systems working in messy real conditions. The human parts stay central: listening to a customer, choosing a sound design, and taking responsibility when something breaks in production.
