THE COMPANY


Our client is a MedTech pioneer in the field of non-invasive monitoring of chronic diseases. They are currently positioned as a global leader in the design and development of breath analyzers, specifically dedicated to measuring volatile organic compounds in exhaled air. Their award-winning startup, with R&D teams based in France and the United States, develops non-invasive breath analysis solutions for monitoring and detecting various biomarkers.



THE POSITION


As the R&D Embedded and Hardware Manager, you will be a key member of the leadership team, reporting directly to the company's CTO. Your main responsibilities will include:

 Leading product development based on the best available technologies

 Defining methods and means of study for conducting tests and clinical trials

 Managing the internal embedded and hardware team

 Collaborating with external research partners, suppliers, and subcontractor



Key priorities for the position include:


  • Leading product development based on available best-in-class technologies, defining the feasibility, and developing technical products considering development constraints.
  • Defining methods, means of studies, and design and their implementation to perform tests, trials, and clinical studies, analyzing the results and determining the product and process developments, designing technical files, operating procedures, supervising certification, product updates, and technical assistance.
  • Leveraging R&D capabilities within the company and with external research and development partners, suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers.



CANDIDATE PROFILE


The ideal candidate for this position will be a seasoned R&D leader with a successful track record in developing medical devices for a market leader and global supplier of medical devices. You will have at least 5 years of experience in this field. You will be a recognized authority in your field.

The ideal candidate will also have demonstrated excellent communication and networking skills to secure commitment from various parts of internal and outsourced organizations.

In addition, the ideal candidate will have demonstrated competencies in the following areas:


  • You will possess a deep technical understanding of real-time embedded systems, standalone embedded systems, networked embedded systems, and mobile embedded systems.
  • You will possess a deep technical understanding of sensors, power supplies, microcontroller- and microprocessor-powered devices, memory, timers and counters, communication interfaces including USB, I2C, UART, RS-485, and SPI, and printed circuit boards…
  • You will possess a deep technical understanding of L1 and, more generally, software development and testing, including text editor, compiler, assembler, emulator, and debugger.
  • You will be able to develop ideas and technologies into commercially viable product solutions and have a strong track record of instrumentation development, certifications, and management.
  • You will also have a deep understanding of design engineering and a broad-based understanding of software engineering, statistical analysis, and project management.
  • The ideal candidate will provide professional engineering methodologies and be able to apply them with internal and outsourced product development teams as required.
  • You will be able to use tools such as Fusion 360 Autodesk, Eagle, Orcad, JIRA, Git/Bitbucket, Bamboo, Visual Studio, Atmel Studio and Keil.
  • You will be able to understand frameworks and codes in C, C++, C#, .Net, FreeRTOS and RTX.


  • You will have clearly demonstrated an ability to influence and work closely with a variety of constituencies, both internal and external, as well as the ability to develop strong organizational relationships based on mutual trust.
  • You will be able to influence and work with others to focus on new strategic directions that result in new product strategies, new manufacturing approaches, and new commercialized products.
  • You will also be able to collaborate with internal business leaders and technology leaders to create value.
  • The ideal candidate will have the willingness to support a global technology organization. Adaptive and reactive to changes, you can anticipate them, be pragmatic and concrete to ensure team cohesion, evaluate the corresponding risks and argue decision choices.
  • You will be fluent in French and English.



LOCATION


The position requires spending a significant amount of time in Toulouse, where the laboratory is located.



TRAVEL


The position entails regular travel within the country and overseas to meet with clients, vendors, and other stakeholders.
