Samuel Knight have an exciting opportunity for a Construction Manager to join an international consultancy, supporting our client in the pharmaceutical construction sector.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Operations Associate, you will be required to prove an excellent track record of construction/contract management and understand the construction industry, ideally within the Pharmaceutical/Life Sciences sector.You will be responsible for ensuring specific systems and processes are in place and in use for effectively identifying, assessing, managing and controlling risks associated with construction.The main responsibilities are split into 3 categories:Preconstruction EHS planningAssurance of the construction EHS deliveryConstruction coordination with the Host SitePreconstruction EHS planningProvide input to the Contracting and Procurement StrategyLead the constructability reviews which should take place at regular intervalsProvide input to the permitting and regulatory requirementsAgree responsibility boundaries, project boundaries, emergency response and permitting strategies with the Host Site EHS teamAuthorize all contractors proposed for selection as meeting the construction EHS prequalification processAuthorize the key construction personnel of the preferred contractors before appointment. Ensuring that all personnel who directly or indirectly influence performance, including managers, supervisors and senior leaders, have the necessary level of competency (skill, knowledge and experience)Write the projects preliminary construction phase plan for inclusion in contractor selection documentationAssurance of the construction EHS deliveryApprove the contractors construction phase plan before any construction works commenceMonitor the contractors performance through a regular EHS assurance meeting Coordination with the Host SiteMaintain frequent communication with the host site to ensure that interfaces are managed effectively and the boundaries of EHS responsibility are understoodAs sections of work are completed, ensure that a system to transfer care, custody and control is in placeAt completion of construction, document the Transfer of Responsibility for EHS back to the host site. About YouYou will have experience in the Construction Industry. Experience within the pharmaceutical / process industries would be preferablePre-construction and construction management and planning experienceGood working knowledge of construction methods, materials and relevant legislationExperienced in leading and participating in constructability reviewsOrganized and methodicalCommercial and contractual awarenessHighly motivated to deliver customer satisfactionDemonstrate leadership skills that will inspire the team to succeedDemonstrate an ability to successfully develop relationships with all key project, and site stakeholdersGood interpersonal skills; communication, can provide clear directionChampion complianceJob Typecontract positionScheduleDay shift, Monday to FridayExperienceMinimum 5 years experience as a Construction Manager / Construction EHS ManagerPharmaceutical / Life Sciences Construction experience: 2 years (preferred)
