Head of Strategic Business Development

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Strategic Business Development to lead and expand our business development initiatives. This pivotal role requires a visionary leader with a robust understanding of the space and or defense industry, strong strategic acumen, and a proven track record in driving growth and forging high-impact strategic marketing. The Head of Strategic Business Development will be instrumental in shaping Look Up Space’s strategic direction and enhancing our market presence.
- ** Strategic Leadership**:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with Look Up Space’s goals and growth targets.
- Identify and capitalize on new market opportunities, industry trends, and emerging technologies within the space sector.
- **Market Analysis and Strategy**:
- Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to identify competitive landscape, customer needs, and emerging opportunities.
- Provide insights and recommendations to the executive team for strategic decision-making and business planning.
- Develop a process for monitoring the competition, both technical and commercial.
- Implement market research and go-to-market strategies.
- Helping to implement a launch strategy in the United States.
- Contribute to the development of a global marketing strategy.
- **Partnerships and Alliances**:
- Cultivate and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, defense contractors, commercial partners, and international space organizations.
- Support negotiations and secure strategic partnerships, alliances, and joint ventures to enhance Look Up Space’s market position and capabilities.
- **Business Development and Sales**:
- Support the sales process from prospecting to closing, ensuring a robust pipeline of opportunities.
- Co-develop sales strategies, proposals, and presentations to effectively communicate Look Up Space’s value proposition to potential clients and partners.
- **Team Leadership and Collaboration**:
- Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing business development team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including ComEx, legal, software, platform and operations, to align business development strategies with company objectives.
- Collaborate on pre-sales actions.
- **Industry Representation**:
- Represent Look Up Space at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to enhance brand visibility and thought leadership.
- Stay abreast of industry developments, regulatory changes, and technological advancements to inform strategic planning.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Corporate Strategy, Space/ Defense Studies, or a related field. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, sales, or strategic consulting and/or marketing within the space/ defense industry or related sectors.
- Proven track record of successful strategic business development, partnership building, and sales leadership in a high-tech, aerospace and or defense environment.
- Strong understanding of the space and/or defense industry’s technical, regulatory, and commercial landscape.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Fluent in French and English. Proficiency in other European languages is highly appreciated.
- Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset, capable of driving growth and innovation in a dynamic and challenging environment.
- Ability to work autonomously, proactively, and creatively within a team. Startup spirit with a demonstrated ability to adapt to changing environments.
