The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) is a volunteer-led, not-for-profit, medical society. It is an independent, non-governmental organisation.

ESC volunteers are world-renowned experts; their opinions are routinely sought and their papers regularly published and referenced.
The ESC coordinates observational registries, creates clinical practice guidelines, and organises and endorses educational programmes. We disseminate robust and independent science through our congresses, journals and educational digital tools. We’re the voice of the cardiology community when advocating for heart-health policies, regulations and funding.
All of these things enable us to identify cardiovascular trends, address inequalities, share best practices to improve standards of care for patients

The ESC employs 200 staff, based in Nice and Brussels, who support ESC volunteers in the development and management of these activities.
The ESC is currently looking for an **Observational Research Team Manager** for a permanent contract, CDI, to work at its headquarters in Sophia Antipolis, France.
The aim of the ESC observational research programme is to provide a better understanding of medical practice, based on observational data collected with more robust methodological procedures.
**Major duties and responsibilities**:
- Manages a multidisciplinary team (+10 people): Clinical Projects Managers, Data Managers, statistician and administrative assistants.
- Secretary of the ESC Registries Committee: organises meetings, circulates documents, coordinates the communication between Committee members, implements decisions made at Committee and ESC Board level.
- Responsible for coordinating the scientific, regulatory and business components of the programme, ensuring programme sustainability and adherence to established timelines.
- Provides assistance to the individual registry executive committees during the design of the protocol and the questionnaire. Provide input on the feasibility of the registries/studies.
- Coordinates and supervises activities related to the conduct of the surveys/ registries in consultation with the Registry Committee.
- Manages the Department budget: defines the budget, as well as forecasts. Controls expenses according to the defined budget. When necessary, reviews the budget to meet the Committee’s decisions and strategy.
- Manages the operational aspects of a registry
- Evaluates the feasibility of a registry.
- Manages the survey/registry according to the budget and the resources.
- Sets timelines for each registry.
- Supervises the pilot and long-term phases of each registry with the sites concerned.
- Sends outcomes of the survey to the relevant recipients in coordination with the chair of the registry’s Executive Committee and the support from the EORP team.
- Develops services and user-friendly tools at the ESC in Sophia Antipolis and in Brussels with standard processes to collect data, develop and update Standard Operational Procedures (SOP), where relevant.
- Supervises the statistical analyses and provides guidance to the statistician whenever necessary.
- Develops a network of volunteer and agreed investigating centres in ESC European countries.
- Communicates with various audiences on the ESC observational researchprogramme (including ESC National Cardiac Societies, sponsors, local monitors, the network of centres and other departments):
- Supervises the contents of external messages on the website and in the registry newsletters, documents and press releases.
- Provides reports whenever requested.
- Supervises the writing of the survey newsletters.
- Regulatory surveillance and compliance
- Scientific advances surveillance
**Profile**:
- Degree in a biomedical discipline (biology, pharmacy, medicine, chemistry).
- Strong experience in people management (international and multidisciplinary team, direct and indirect reporting lines).
- Large experience in the conduct of international clinical studies (preferably in Cardiology ).
- Knowledge of international regulatory requirements regarding the conduct of clinical studies and registries.
- Working knowledge of reviewing database validation plans, statistical plans and results.
- Fluency in English.
