The **European Commission for Democracy through Law** - better known as the **Venice Commission** as it meets in

**legal advice** to its member States and, in particular, to help States wishing to bring their legal and institutional structures into

line with European standards and international experience in the fields of democracy, human rights and the rule of law (for more

information see the Venice Commission’s website).

**Your role**

As a Legal Advisor specialised in electoral law you will:
contribute to the preparation of and participate in the meetings of the Venice Commission and its Sub-Commissions, as
well as of the Council for Democratic Elections;
prepare draft opinions (notably on legislation in the field of elections, referendums and political parties), studies, reports
and notes;
follow up the implementation of opinions and studies in the electoral field;

**What we are looking for**

As a minimum, you must:
hold a higher education degree or qualification equivalent to a master’s degree (2nd cycle of the Bologna process
framework of qualifications for the European Higher Education) in law;
have a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in the field of advice on electoral law, electoral assistance
and election observation, as well as international relations;
have a very good knowledge of one of the two official languages of the
knowledge of the other (English/French);
be a citizen of one of the member States of the
service of that state;
have discharged any obligation concerning national service (military, civil or comparable);
not be the parent, child, stepchild or grandchild of a serving staff member of the
