Duration : 18 months
The proposed work includes a contribution to the in situ study with our partners, and physical modelling in the laboratory. This type of modelling is essential for improving our understanding of the physical processes controlling sediment dynamics. Sediment transport by bedload will be estimated using an innovative method based on the use of hydrophones. The passive acoustic method will be used at sea and in the laboratory. For the in situ approach, hydrophones will be installed on sea cages deployed near the mast off Fécamp to study the effects of the mast on bedload transport. ADCP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler) profilers will provide information on the hydrodynamics in the vicinity of the mast. In situ campaigns will have to be prepared, and the results must be processed and analysed. Considering the laboratory approach, the tests will be carried out in the LOMC wave and/or current channel (see Khoury et al., 2019; Vah et al., 2020, 2022).
A particularly sensitive specific hydrophone will be used to estimate bedload transport. This experimental approach will make it possible to control the various hydrodynamic and sediment parameters involved.
