Job Overview
The role of the Offshore Engineering Systems Manager encompasses a comprehensive approach to systems engineering, focusing on both the technical and business requirements of our clients. The objective is to deliver high-quality products that align with user expectations. This position involves a thorough process of design, development, and optimization of systems, which includes identifying and quantifying system requirements, generating alternative design concepts, conducting design trade studies, selecting optimal designs, and ensuring proper integration and execution throughout the production and operational phases. The role is influenced by operational policies and requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, providing a degree of autonomy within the operational segment. Strong evaluative judgment and operational insight are essential for achieving successful outcomes.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Offshore Engineering Systems Manager will oversee the system engineering aspects of projects and platforms related to offshore wind turbine systems. This includes leading a team of System Integration Leaders responsible for managing interfaces between subsystems, ensuring the flow-down of system-level requirements to component-level specifications, and managing configuration and lifecycle processes.
As the Offshore Engineering Systems Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing the Systems Engineering team, which includes System Integration Leaders for various product configurations.
- Ensuring the technical integrity of the overall offshore wind turbine product.
- Guiding the technical direction of product development initiatives.
- Providing expertise in offshore wind turbine systems throughout all product development phases, from requirements gathering to design, validation, and lifecycle support.
- Conducting system conceptual design studies and trade-offs that address critical product parameters such as cost, performance, reliability, and operability.
- Contributing to and approving system requirements and customer-facing technical documentation.
- Accountability for strategic initiatives that impact platform products.
- Managing complex assignments with significant long-term business implications.
- Establishing design strategies and contributing to multi-generation system and technology plans in collaboration with Platform and Sub-system Managers.
- Implementing first-principle design methodologies to enhance system optimization and understanding.
- Effectively communicating technical recommendations and analyses to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Contributing to the development of new design practices and methodologies.
- Demonstrating effective risk management and problem-solving capabilities.
- Promoting simplification and standardization of best practices in engineering analyses and design execution.
- Master's Degree in Engineering
- At least 20 years of proven experience in offshore wind turbine product development and technologies.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a leadership role
- Ability to navigate a matrix organizational structure
- System or product-level perspective
- Capability to analyze complex issues , identify potential solutions, and facilitate effective decision-making.
- Strong technical proficiency
- Valid EU Work Permit
- Familiarity with LEAN methodologies and a LEAN organizational culture.
- Experience in field testing and validation processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
