As a Legal Counsel for France your primary objective is to proactively identify and mitigate all legal risks relating to the real estate development and operations (including related infrastructure and power connection) in relation to our data centre and light industrial / logistics asset classes with a strong focus construction law and on procurement.
More concretely, this means you will get the opportunity:
- Draft, review, negotiate and manage agreements and other legal documents in relation to the development of data centre and light industrial / logistics projects such as grid connection and use, architect, project management, design and consulting services, design & build construction agreements, waste heat use ;
- Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, case law, and industry trends impacting the company, and proactively advise the organisation on potential legal risks and opportunities;
- Ensure compliance with the company’s policies, standards and values. Support the French team on relevant legal and compliance matters and foster a culture of legal awareness and compliance;
- Involving and manage external law firms in an effective and timely way and at fair cost;
- Ensuring the coordination of claims, legal disputes and/or litigation;
- Working in close collaboration with the other Legal Counsel in Paris and the European legal team, the French business team (business, technical development and asset management) and the wider European team.
Do you recognize yourself?
- Master degree in law from a French university. Additional degree or LLM is considered a plus;
- Excellent knowledge of contract law and construction law.
- At least 8 years of proven experience as a legal counsel or a similar role in a company or law firm of which minimum 5 years in construction law for major (infrastructure) projects and/or data centres;
- Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills;
- Ability to work without significant supervision, and independently handle most complex legal matters.
- Ability to work on multiple projects and in different teams with a strong eye for meeting deadlines;
- High ethical standards and professionalism living Goodman’s values of innovation, determination, integrity and sustainability by example;
- Perfect knowledge of French and English, both written and spoken;
- Able to travel on short notice and to work on multiple projects under tight time pressure in a fast-changing environment;
- Experience in international projects required;
- Keen to learn everything about Goodman and its business and share Goodman’s values of innovation, determination, integrity and sustainability
