The School for International Training is a global institution offering graduate programs through SIT Graduate Institute and undergraduate study abroad programs through SIT Study Abroad. SIT was founded in the early 1960s as a training center for the first Peace Corps volunteers. For nearly 60 years, SIT has prepared students to be effective changemakers and global citizens through experiential education focused on the world's most critical global issues. SIT Study Abroad offers accredited summer and semester undergraduate programs in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East, as well as comparative programs on multiple continents. SIT Graduate Institute offers global and hybrid certificates, master's, and doctoral degrees.
**Job Summary**
The School for International Training seeks a Program Director for IHP’s Health and Community: Globalization, Culture & Care. The Program Director of IHP Health and Community is responsible for developing the program curriculum, including syllabi, and overseeing program delivery and support, including academics, operations, management, and administration. The program’s learning journey takes place in four countries, collaborating with culturally diverse and interdisciplinary teams, and working with students from US accredited colleges and universities. This appointment may also be offered with the academic rank of assistant or associate professor.
**International Honors Program**
The International Honors Program (IHP) is a dynamic and flexible academic structure that combines depth and breadth to provide a comparative and rigorous intellectual examination of critical global issues. The IHP program, a part of School for International Training (SIT), offers international semester-long study abroad programs emphasizing the comparative study of critical global issues. IHP’s learning model is grounded in experiential learning, critical pedagogy, cultural immersion, local perspectives, and global comparison.
Each semester program takes students from leading U.S. colleges and universities on a multi-site study of health and community. The itinerary is typically one of the following:
- Washington, DC, USA > Vietnam > South Africa > Argentina
- Washington, DC, USA > India > South Africa > Argentina
- **Each country program features rural excursions outside of the major cities where they are based.

The Program Director is responsible for:
- the planning, delivery, and supervision of the academic program offered by SIT Study Abroad at its assigned program locations.
- ensuring program academic excellence and facilitating student learning experience in a safe environment.
- managing the program sites and supervision of local staff, budget planning and oversight, and financial reporting.
- representing SIT Study Abroad in the program locations and developing and maintaining positive relationships with local partners.
The Program Director must remain current in their areas of expertise and familiar with in-country issues and practices in higher education. When required by local law, the Program Director will have a local employment contract. The position is full-time for the entire contract period.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
1. **Academic Management**
- General management, implementation, and delivery of the study abroad program;
- Curriculum development and academic oversight;
- Advising in matters regarding academic program delivery and scheduling;
- Organizing and delivering the students' initial cross-cultural orientation and teaching components of the thematic and project-based courses, in their areas of expertise, as appropriate;
- Designing and coordinating a fully integrated educational experience to facilitate student learning through classroom sessions and field-based activities. Facilitating the linkages between and among each of these various components;
- Generally guiding and advising students in both their cross-cultural learning processes and academic experiences thus serving as an educator/teacher in the broadest sense by assisting students to draw substantive connections from among different aspects of the experience;
- Conducting the program review and academic evaluation at the end of the program.
2. **Program Management**
- Managing program administration and operations in compliance with local laws and regulations;
