Work environment:
LICSEN is strongly integrated in the local scientific environment of the Saclay plateau and maintains close links with the University of Paris-Saclay (Graduate School of Chemistry, ED 2MIB, PSiNano Nanoscience Institute). It is also involved in numerous national and international collaborations (notably through GDRs, ANR and European projects, and the international joint laboratory with NTU/Singapore). In addition, LICSEN has all the experimental means necessary to carry out projects focused on renewable energies, in particular for the synthesis and characterizations of (nano)materials (XPS, SEM, MALDI-TOF, IR, TGA, BET, electrochemical impedance, etc.), their integration into devices (PEMFC, photo-electrochemical cells, PV cells) and the measurement of performances. Through collaborations, the laboratory can also perform complementary characterization through collaborations (including HR-TEM).

Your main missions will be:

- Design and characterise new materials. In particular, this will involve chemical, electrochemical and photo-physical characterisations.
- Prepare devices according to different large-surface processes developed in the laboratory (including printing techniques), study their performances and propose optimization paths based on an understanding of the scientific and technological barriers.
- Supervise or co-supervise internships, PhD students and fixed-term contracts recruited in the framework of the laboratory's projects.
- Write publications and patents. Presenting the results obtained at international conferences but also during technical meetings with potential academic or industrial partners.
- Participate in the setting up of research and innovation projects, either in industrial partnership or in the framework of collaborative research projects in response to calls for proposals (ANR, European projects, etc.).

Education level: PhD

Qualifications: PhD, possibly coupled with an engineering degree, specialization in chemistry of materials for energy, electrochemistry

Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience after the PhD thesis, in one or more laboratories different from the one where the PhD was obtained. International experience is desirable.

General knowledge & Know-how:

- Synthesis of materials/nanomaterials (organic and inorganic synthesis, in autoclave or by microfluidics would be a plus,...)
- Electrochemistry (RDE/RRDE, electrochemical impedance...) and photoelectrochemistry (study of photo-induced charge transfers)
- Device manufacturing and testing (electrical characterisation, fuel cells, hydrogen photoproduction cells, solar cells)
- Supervision of young researchers (fixed-term contracts) or master fellows
- Writing of publications and project monitoring

Soft skills:
As the position is integrated into the current activity of the laboratory, the young researcher will be associated with ongoing projects. The ability to work as part of a team is therefore a central component of the position.

You like communication and you know how to interact with different people and ensure a relationship of trust with the other members of the team. You have also previously presented your work at international conferences and disseminated your results.

You have a sense of initiative, strong motivation as well as a desire to acquire new knowledge, and you are able to propose solutions and research approaches and actions.

You have the capacity to analyze different situations related to the research fields considered in this position, and to put forward constructive and relevant points of view in order to move the work in progress forward collectivity.

Organized, you are able to define the different parts of the activity, in accordance with the general organization of the research laboratory and unit.

Methodical and rigorous, you are able to build a working method and plan tasks. You manage priorities in order to achieve the objectives with efficiency.
