About P1 Security
Founded in 2011, P1 Security is on a mission to secure critical and sovereign mobile networks by providing services and technologies to identify, detect, and recover from critical threats and vulnerabilities.
We address telecom security challenges across 5G, cloud-based infrastructure, OpenRAN, network slicing, edge computing (MEC), and legacy telecom systems (2/3/4G), including Diameter, SS7, SIGTRAN, GTP, and related attack surfaces.
Our team includes telecom operators, security professionals, and researchers who regularly share cutting-edge work at international security conferences and GSMA working groups. P1 Labs, our R&D branch, also shares open-source initiatives with the telecom security community (GitHub).
Job Description
Freelance Telecom Security Trainer — Worldwide Onsite Missions
We are seeking an experienced Freelance Telecom Security Trainer to deliver high-impact, onsite technical training for mobile network operators (MNOs), regulators, and enterprise clients worldwide.
Working on a per-mission basis, you will adapt and present established course content and practical lab materials from P1 Security’s training platform. You will help engineering and security operations center (SOC) teams understand telecom protocol vulnerabilities, assess their impact, and apply effective detection and defense strategies.
This role combines deep telecom security expertise with strong classroom facilitation skills and a practical, hands-on approach to learning.
Responsibilities
Deliver multi-day onsite technical workshops worldwide, adapting your approach to participants’ technical backgrounds and learning objectives.
Prepare for each mission by reviewing the course scope, audience prerequisites, learning objectives, and practical lab requirements with the P1 Security team.
Adapt existing online curriculum, presentations, exercises, and lab materials for engaging live classroom delivery.
Explain signaling flows, trust boundaries, protocol vulnerabilities, attack scenarios, and defensive controls clearly and accurately.
Facilitate hands-on exercises in authorized, controlled lab environments and help participants troubleshoot technical issues.
Answer participant questions on telecom security, including detection, mitigation, and operational defense strategies.
Check participants’ understanding through practical exercises, discussion, and knowledge checks.
Coordinate classroom and lab readiness with P1 Security and the client before delivery.
Gather participant feedback and share recommendations to improve course content and delivery.
Respect client confidentiality, intellectual property, and agreed rules of engagement throughout each mission.
Required qualifications
Deep telecom security expertise in one or more of the following domains:
SS7 / SIGTRAN: MAP/CAP signaling, common abuse scenarios, and signaling security controls. Related course: TS-201 — 2G, 3G and SS7 Mobile Network Security.
LTE / Diameter: S6a, Gx, and Gy interfaces, protocol vulnerabilities, and defensive measures. Related course: TS-401 — LTE Security and Insecurity.
GTP-C: Versions 1 and 2, control-plane procedures, security risks, and mitigation strategies. Related training tracks: TS-201 — 2G/3G and TS-401 — LTE / EPC, depending on the mission scope.
IMS / SIP: Signaling fundamentals, protocol weaknesses, and protection mechanisms. Related course: TS-250 — IMS Security.
5G: Service-based architecture (SBA), HTTP/2 and JSON-based APIs, and interconnect security involving N32 and the Security Edge Protection Proxy (SEPP). Related course: TS-501 — 5G Telecom Security hands-on course.
You do not need to cover every domain to apply. Specialists in one or several domains are welcome. Missions will be matched to your demonstrated expertise; please indicate the courses and topics you are confident teaching independently.
Proven experience delivering technical training, workshops, or hands-on instruction to engineering or SOC teams.
Ability to explain complex technical concepts, manage classroom discussion, and adapt to mixed levels of experience.
Practical experience analyzing telecom signaling traces and using packet-analysis tools such as Wireshark.
Confidence working with Linux-based lab environments and troubleshooting connectivity or exercise issues.
Professional preparation, reliable delivery, and clear communication with clients and the P1 Security team.
