Paris, France Generare Temps plein

Scientist – Analytical Chemistry (Natural Products) Location : Paris, France Start Date : Flexible, 2026 Position : Full-time, Permanent ABOUT GENERARE At Generare, we’re reopening one of humanity’s most powerful sources of innovation : the natural evolved chemistry of microbes. We’ve built a discovery engine that blends synthetic biology, computational biology, and automation to explore the vast 97% of microbial natural products that remain undiscovered, and to turn that hidden diversity into a rapidly growing library of truly novel bioactive molecules. The platform is already running at industrial scale, revealing new scaffolds and modes of action faster than any other approach, and unlocking fresh routes to tackle antimicrobial resistance, cancer, parasitic diseases, and major agricultural needs. Generare was created in 2023 from the landmark work of Dr. Vincent Libis and is scaling fast. We’re 20 brilliant people in the heart of Paris today, growing rapidly next year, and building the team that will bring nature’s molecular library to the next wave of medicines and sustainable crop protection. Role Overview We are seeking a talented and rigorous analytical chemist / natural products scientist with deep hands‑on expertise in the isolation, analysis, and structural elucidation of complex small molecules. This role sits at the heart of Generare’s natural product discovery pipeline, and will be instrumental in characterizing novel compounds produced by engineered microbial strains. You will operate state‑of‑the‑art analytical equipment (notably Orbitrap MS and NMR) and collaborate closely with scientists from chemistry, bioassay, and microbiology teams to solve structural questions and advance hits toward validation. You will work closely with Chloé, our chemist, and be in continuous interaction with the broader Chemistry & Bioassay team to coordinate compound characterization efforts. Key Responsibilities Perform extraction, purification, and analytical characterization of bioactive compounds from microbial cultures. Operate, maintain, and optimize Orbitrap mass spectrometers, including method development and troubleshooting. Design and execute structure elucidation workflows combining MS, NMR (1D / 2D), and orthogonal techniques. Integrate analytical data with biological readouts to support dereplication, hit triaging, and SAR generation. Document results clearly, contribute to IP filings, internal reports, and cross‑functional discussions. Profile PhD in analytical chemistry, natural product chemistry, or MSc with several years of relevant industry experience. Strong hands‑on background in natural product isolation and analysis. Demonstrated expertise in Orbitrap MS: method development, daily operation, instrument maintenance. Solid experience in structure elucidation, especially using NMR, and in combining analytical approaches to solve structural challenges. Comfortable working with complex microbial extracts and low‑abundance compounds. Collaborative and approachable, able to communicate clearly with colleagues from different scientific domains. Enjoys working in a dynamic, fast‑evolving research environment, with a mindset of curiosity and teamwork. Why Join Us? A chance to contribute to deep‑tech innovation with global impact. An internationally connected scientific environment. A flexible, empowering culture grounded in collaboration and excellence. A front‑row seat in shaping the future of natural compound discovery. Apply → Send an email to chloe.puteaux@generare.bio to apply with your CV and a short note describing your fit for the role. We welcome applications from candidates with international academic or biotech backgrounds. #J-18808-Ljbffr
