Job purpose: This role supports UNEP's Mitigation Branch and India Office in accelerating passive cooling strategies in India. The purpose is to assist governments, industry, and academia in adopting passive cooling solutions through guideline development, technical assistance for affordable housing, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement. The role contributes to sustainable urban cooling and building material initiatives, aligning with national and global climate goals and promoting energy efficiency in the built environment.
Responsibilities: Develop and operationalize Passive Cooling Strategies (PCS) guidelines for Indian states and nationally. Provide Technical Assistance (TA) for affordable housing pilots. Conduct capacity-building training sessions and lead consultations with state governments. Develop an External Shading Design Booklet for various climate zones. Offer technical and organizational support for sustainable urban cooling and building material activities in India. Engage with government bodies, partners, and subcontractors, and develop knowledge products, tools, and training materials.
