Our aim is to successfully design and test a cost-effective and reusable mini-launch vehicle by 2026.CryogenicFirst Stage tank Design EngineerWe are looking for a mechanical designer to join one of our Cryogenic Stage Teams working on the tank structure. Our teams design, manufacture and test the cryogenic stages.Broadly speaking, you will contribute to the tank design within the First Stage, inside the Tank and structure team. You will rely heavily on a general mechanical background and on facilitating and communication skills.In more detail, you will:Propose designs in agreement with high level technical requirements defined for the structurePerform trade-offs in order to identify best technical solutions to meet mass and cost targetsContribute to the 3D CAD modelling of the different pressurized and non pressurized structures of the tank, deliver the corresponding detailed designExchange with other teams in order to understand their constraints and their needs, and negotiate with them if necessaryContribute to the choice of final design, taking into account the different constraints (cost, performance, lead time of parts to manufacture, integration, …)Compute functional cotation, taking into account low cost approach and simplification of manufacturing operationsContact different suppliers and perform the choice taking into account previous constraintsFollow parts manufacturing and accompany methods and integration teams, in interaction with the industrialization team leaderManage tank interfaces with the stage in interaction with Propulsion, System and Lay-out First Stage teamContribute to the management of the definition in Solidworks PDMCommunicate and help each other in a dynamic teamAlso, consistently with the Agile way of working, you may be asked to contribute more generally to mechanical design activities of the stage in collaboration with other members of the team, in particular its architect. Specific competences & abilities:Team play, communication skills, adaptability, open-mindedness and abnegationPrior demonstrated experience on mechanical architecture activities of vehicles (automotive, naval construction, aeronautics, space industry)Prior experience in CAD design with SolidworksKnowledge on bill-of-material management with Solidworks PDM or equivalentKnowledge on metallic material properties and manufacturing processesEnglish level sufficient to read and write technical documentation, to perform oral technical presentation and to interact on technical topics Qualification:Mechanical engineering degree (+5 years post-Baccalaureate) ideally specialized in structure designAt least 3 years experience on the related field Working at MaiaSpaceYou will be joining a friendly multi-disciplinary team, comprised of multi-skilled people, following Agile and Scrum methodologies.
