Summary: The U.S. Mission in Paris is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the Administrative Management Assistant position in the General services - Cultural Heritage Program.

Responsibilities
- Provides technical support in the conservation, renovation, and maintenance of the culturally significant properties and assets of the Joint‑Mission in France, including building finishes, furniture, furnishings, artwork, and landscape features such as fountains and sculptures.
- Serves as the point of contact (POC) for OBO/OPS/RD regarding inquiries and requests from Ambassadors, Deputy Chiefs of Mission, Consuls General, and Principal Officers, as well as their spouses, concerning decoration issues in all areas of the executive residences and office spaces.
- Prepares scopes of work and facilitates purchases and contract services for Cultural Heritage and Residential Design projects.
- Coordinates the Mission's Art in Embassies program with the Art in Embassies office of the Office of Operations within the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations.
- Supervises cultural heritage preservation techniques performed by in‑house employees and restoration work performed by outside contractors.
- The overall supervisor is the Supervisory General Services Officer. The immediate supervisor is the Cultural Asset Manager.
All selected candidates must be able to obtain and hold a Public Trust (Low Risk‑Non Sensitive) security clearance. All selected candidates will be subject to a background investigation and may be subject to a pre‑employment medical exam. Selected candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (12 weeks) upon receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Requirements
Education
- A master’s degree in art‑history or conservation studies.
Experience
- A minimum of three years of progressively responsible work experience in management of contractors in conservation work, stewardship of cultural assets or interior design projects, museum work or executing interior design projects within historically significant interiors.
Languages (TESTED)
- English – Good working Knowledge; speaking/reading/writing.
- French – Good working Knowledge; speaking/reading/writing.
Job Knowledge
- Good knowledge of general art history, conservation, interior design, painting work and techniques, preservation of decorative art objects.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent tact and diplomacy.
- Must be able to work under pressure and with high‑ranking diplomats.
- Ability to prepare a condition report and conservation scope of work.
- Ability to create and keep up to date financial and property management records and photographic image databases.
- Ability to explain conservation techniques and materials and give advice on conservation matters.
Salary
The annual gross salary includes: the profit‑sharing allowance, the vacation allowance, the bonus allowance and the “Comité d’Entreprise” allowance.
Benefits
- Meal tickets have a face value of EUR 8.25/day. 60% of the daily amount is paid by the U.S. Government. An employee contribution of EUR 3.30 per ticket will be deducted in payroll. The number of meal tickets is limited to 202 workdays per year.
