The Opportunity Hivebrite is evolving its platform to meet growing customer demands with a modern, scalable, and intelligent foundation. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will lead the transformation of our monolith into a modular, service‑based architecture, implement AI‑powered features, and drive performance, reliability, and scalability across the organization. Responsibilities Design and build scalable backend services using Ruby, Python, Node.js/TypeScript, or Golang. Lead the decomposition of the monolith into modular, service‑oriented components. Drive performance and reliability improvements with async queues, caching strategies, and data modeling. Implement AI‑powered features (personalization, automation, recommendations) with Product and Data teams. Elevate the internal developer experience, integrating AI tooling such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and streamlining CI/CD workflows. Engineer robust integrations with third‑party APIs, webhooks, and event‑driven systems. Champion technical excellence across testing, observability, and system design. Shape the technical vision and contribute to architecture reviews and long‑term platform strategy. Qualifications Proficient in one of the stacks: Ruby, Python, Node.js/TypeScript, or Golang. Track record of building high‑scale backend systems for millions of users with distributed architecture. Experience with service extraction and API‑first designs. Solid grasp of distributed systems, async processing, observability, and modern caching strategies. Interest or hands‑on experience with AI/ML applications in product or engineering contexts. Familiarity with Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP), and modern DevOps tooling. Collaborative, thoughtful communicator who enjoys leading cross‑functional technical efforts.
