Inria, the French national research institute for the digital sciences Offer Description Our team is collaborating with the Agence Innovation Defense (AID) to leverage artificial intelligence in robotic teleoperation. Within this project, the aim is to develop a generic graphical and physical interface that combines machine learning, 3D visualisation and real‑time images (augmented reality). The main robot will be the Tiago++, by PAL Robotics, a modern omnidirectional, bimanual robot. With the help of a PhD student and senior researchers, the engineer will be in charge of: developing a 3D, real‑time visualisation of robot trajectories that will be overlaid on the real images (augmented reality) interfacing the machine learning code and the real robots using ROS2 contributing to the datasets required to evaluate the scientific ideas contributing to the software of the robot(s) (mostly the Tiago++ robot) depending on the skills of the selected engineer, helping to design the physical interfaces with complex multi‑arm teleoperated robots contributing to the reports and the documentation related to the project The project will be coordinated with other projects, in particular for space teleoperation and within the EuROBIN European network of excellence. The produced code will be released with a permissive open‑source license. Main Activities develop a state‑of‑the‑art teleoperation interface, in Python or C++ work with an advanced robot in ROS2 help the team to deploy and experiment with the robot good skills in Python programming and/or C++ good skills in Linux day‑to‑day use good knowledge of some 3D visualisation and GUI libraries (for example OpenGL, ImGui, Magnum, Qt, ...) basics in robotics (kinematics, etc.) basics in machine learning Languages English is required for day-to-day interaction with the team French is not mandatory Specific Requirements The ideal applicant is a good programmer, either Python or C++. He/She knows 3D libraries (e.g., OpenGL) and, ideally, the basics of robotics (kinematics, control theory). He/She likes experimenting with novel techniques and being "on the edge" of technologies.
