Managing hundreds of petabytes of data, we develop homegrown object and block storage platforms, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability. The tribe supports core Scaleway products like Instances, Databases, Registry, Kubernetes, and more, ensuring seamless integration and data availability across the stack.Our high-performance platforms, leveraging technologies such as home-grown distributed encoding, Amazon S3 compatible API, and many opensource components like Ceph, HAProxy, and ExaBGP, handle hundreds of petabytes of customer data. With hundreds of storage servers, distributed over a dozen of data-centers across Europe, this is a challenging yet rewarding space for engineering excellence.We work in a collaborative and international environment where the diversity of Scalers, combined with a spirit of sharing, helps bring new projects to life every day, advancing our ambitions together.You will be leading a team of up to 7 engineers (Software Engineers and Site Reliability Engineers - SREs) within the Storage Tribe. Working alongside two other Engineering Managers, you will report directly to the VP Network and Storage at Scaleway.YOUR DAILY ROUTINE :Managing the team’s daily activities, prioritizing tasks and removing roadblocksPlanning and delivering on engineering projects using Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)Partnering with Product Management and other stakeholders to align technical work with business needsProviding technical guidance to the team, ensuring best practices in development, deployment, and operationsDriving continuous improvement in performance, reliability, and efficiency of storage systemsMonitoring system health and respond to incidents, working with the team to ensure rapid resolutionABOUT YOU:SOFTSKILLS :Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or Team LeadStrong human management skills, including mentorship, feedback delivery, and career developmentProficiency in Agile project management methodologies and tools (e.g., Scrum, Kanban)Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholdersHands-on software development experience in production environmentsStrong foundational knowledge of computer science principlesGeneral understanding of high-load, distributed infrastructure, including hardware and networkingProficiency in:Go (Golang)Linux (across various distributions and use cases)Configuration management tools like AnsibleModern monitoring tools like VictoriaMetrics, Prometheus, GrafanaGreat if you have:Knowledge of low-level storage technologies (e.g., disks, SSDs, NVMe, RAID)Experience with C/C++ for systems programmingFamiliarity with high-performance systems and managing production environments at scaleWHAT YOU WILL FIND AT SCALEWAY ++++Hybrid work: We offer up to 3 days of remote work per week.Offices: Our offices are spacious, dynamic workspaces with bold design, conveniently located near public transport.
