ArcelorMittal is the world’s largest steel producer. We use innovative technologies to create the steels that will build tomorrow’s world. Every day, over 125,000 talented people in more than 60 countries push the boundaries of digitalization and advanced technologies to create stronger, faster, and smarter steel. Our scale allows us to provide the support and training needed to achieve this. Comprising 1,650 researchers across 14 research centres, our Global R&D team continuously improves steel quality and manufacturing processes. We investigate disruptive technologies, reduce the carbon footprint, and optimize costs while maintaining uncompromising quality. With over 30 nationalities, our multicultural diversity brings international experience and enables us to meet global needs. While 90% of total CO2 emissions for steel production come from ironmaking, the team is driven by ArcelorMittal’s objective to reach carbon neutrality. This goal requires changes in our processes, including the production of new by‑products such as dusts, sludges, and slags. Managing and valorizing these materials—whether through internal recycling or external valorization—is essential for implementing new processes. Your role As a research engineer, you will participate in and lead projects that focus on by‑product recycling and management, as well as minimization of environmental emissions—dust, dioxins, CO₂. You will employ a strong methodology to assess existing solutions and develop new ones. Laboratory work, industrial tests, and process simulations will form part of your responsibilities. Identify challenges and blocking points for valorization of new by‑product types. Propose and develop innovative solutions, or assess external solutions for full use inside (or outside) ArcelorMittal. Validate solutions at laboratory or industrial scale (build equipment, run tests, coordinate trials, analyze results, validate mass balance and CO₂ emissions). Participate in the R&D development strategy with stakeholders (portfolio, sales teams, CTO, etc.). Participate in transversal activities in safety, environment, and quality management. Your profile Master or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemistry, Hydrometallurgy, Electrochemistry, Pyrometallurgy, or by‑product treatment and valorization. Experience in R&D applied to an industrial context is a plus. Skills in laboratory work, pilot experimental tools, and simulation. Fluency in French and English. Ability to work in a multicultural environment. Team player with networking ability and interaction with R&D and plant personnel. Innovative, results‑oriented, and able to propose new solutions. Values Compliance with health and safety rules. Respect, transparency, honesty, and empathy in relationships. Honor commitments. Behave consistently with the highest level of integrity. Question practices, strive for high quality and reliability. Acknowledge that diversity, varied skills, and fresh ideas strengthen the group. Commit to learning throughout your professional career and continually achieve essential skills. Open to ideas that challenge conventions and stimulate innovation. Join us and you will see your work help create renewable energy, impact major industries, and boost economies. At ArcelorMittal, we’ll help you create your world. Attractive remuneration with stimulating career prospects in which eminent scientists and engineers evolve in a multicultural environment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
