Position Overview: The role of the Control Systems Engineer within the DTI is to support industrial investment initiatives focused on instrumentation, control systems, and regulatory compliance across Saint-Gobain Glass manufacturing facilities globally. This position entails managing standard specifications for instrumentation and promoting best practices within the technical department.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee technical standards associated with instrumentation and process control systems.
  • Develop and maintain standard specifications, data sheets, and P&IDs.
  • Facilitate the evolution and enhancement of technical standards in response to changing requirements, including process modifications, legal standards, and cost efficiencies.
  • Assist in investment projects related to float lines, specifically in the areas of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Ensure adherence to Saint-Gobain standards by project teams and suppliers throughout project execution.
  • Collaborate with project and plant operation teams to define project scopes based on technical audits and operational needs.
  • Engage in all phases of technical procurement, including specification development, offer evaluation, and monitoring of acceptance tests.
  • Supervise the commissioning of various systems and conduct functional tests on-site prior to production initiation.
  • Support the tuning of control systems and assist in production ramp-up.
  • Coordinate the resolution of project-related issues and monitor system performance during the ramp-up phase.
  • Compile project documentation and integrate feedback and lessons learned to refine technical standards and supplier strategies.
  • Provide ongoing support to operational glass plants.
  • Contribute to troubleshooting efforts related to instrumentation or control systems in the manufacturing facilities.
  • Conduct technical audits within the factories.
  • Participate in procurement processes and maintain technical vigilance.
  • Stay informed about relevant equipment and measurement methodologies.
  • Manage relationships with certified instrumentation suppliers.
  • Identify and assess potential new suppliers in collaboration with the purchasing team.

Educational and Technical Qualifications:

A degree in Engineering, specializing in Electronics, Instrumentation, or Controls, complemented by extensive experience in the manufacturing sector. Experience in an international and diverse environment is advantageous.

Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is essential. Knowledge of French is highly valued, while Spanish or German is considered a plus.

Specific Technical Competencies:

  • Expertise in automation and control systems.
  • Strong understanding of supplier management practices.

Familiarity with ATEX regulations and related instrumentation is a plus.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Capability to operate in a multicultural setting.
  • Skill in managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Ability to advocate for DTI positions with project teams.
  • Demonstrated autonomy in work.

Job Requirements: The position necessitates a multinational and multicultural approach, with a focus on managing multiple projects. The role involves frequent travel to various Saint-Gobain Glass facilities for project oversight.

  • Travel commitments may include 1 to 2 weeks during project design and implementation phases.
  • Extended stays may be required during commissioning phases and project start-up activities.
