About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Data Center Technician to join our team at Amazon Data Services France SAS. As a Data Center Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a high level of system reliability by prioritizing and resolving trouble tickets efficiently.
  • Escalate and troubleshoot technical issues on various platforms, including systems, networks, and power/mechanical.
  • Remediate physical layer outages, both systems and network.
  • Participate in data center power and cooling events.
  • Work shift rotations to meet 24x7 on-call requirements.
  • Install and configure racks of hosts in line with internal SLAs.
  • Triage and resolve trouble tickets for all devices in your region.
  • Ensure correct rotation of parts and spares.
  • Help define metrics to increase customer uptime.
  • Enforce Amazon's security best practices.
  • Interact with third-party vendors and contractors and other data center technicians.
  • Contribute ideas to improve operational efficiency.
  • Engage with remote hands and eyes in EU regional cloudfront POPs.
Requirements
  • Server hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Server booting: POST, BIOS, PXE, Kickstart, GRUB/LILO, RAID.
  • Experience with network protocols: TCP/IP, Ethernet, L2/L3 technologies.
  • Network hardware: copper and optical fiber cabling, switches, routers.
  • Good understanding of Linux/Unix administration.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Remote access: console routers, IPMI, BMC.
  • Network equipment installation and configuration.
  • Redundancy: power feeds, ATS, server hardware, RAID, network connectivity.
  • Participated in project management.
  • Scripting: Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby (or programming languages).
