Business Development Specialist

As a Business Development Specialist, you will be instrumental in supporting our Business Development (BD) and Technical Advisor (TA) teams, ensuring we deliver impactful results for both our clients and our organization. Your role will focus on driving key pre-project activities, managing proposals, and supporting project delivery—allowing you to develop a strong foundation in both business and technical operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with BD and TA teams to coordinate pre-project activities, ensuring the smooth running of proposal production and bid defence processes.
  • Set up calls and meetings, ensure all contributors are aligned with deadlines, and monitor the process to ensure timely delivery of proposals.
  • Provide crucial support by preparing and formatting templates, quality-checking documents, and ensuring legal agreements are fully executed and appropriately filed.
  • Maintain and update the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, ensuring client and project data, budgets, and proposal details are accurate and current.
  • Participate in client scoping calls and provide follow-up communication, ensuring clarity and momentum throughout the pre-project phase.
  • Conduct client and competitor research with the Marketing team to identify key industry contacts and business opportunities.
  • Help develop account plans and contribute to expanding business with both new and existing clients, using tools like Global Data and LinkedIn for business intelligence.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 2+ years in a sales, business development, or commercial role within the CRO, Life Science Consulting, Pharma, or Biotech sectors.
  • Commercial Mindset: Strong understanding of business drivers, with the ability to connect commercial opportunities to client needs.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communicator, confident in building and managing relationships across all levels of seniority, from technical experts to executive leadership.
  • Curiosity and Drive: A natural curiosity and passion for innovation, combined with a proactive approach to identifying new opportunities and driving results.
  • Education: Degree-educated, with a background that gives you a strong foundation in the Life Sciences, Business, or a related field.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with CRM tools (Odoo preferred but not essential) and other business intelligence platforms, with the ability to extract and analyze data to support project follow-up.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Ability to collaborate across functions, ensuring clear communication between BD, Quality, IT, and technical teams.
