About INRIA Saclay-Île-de-France

The Inria Saclay-Île-de-France Research Centre, established in 2008, is a prominent research institution situated within the vibrant Saclay site. It collaborates closely with Paris-Saclay University and the Institut Polytechnique de Paris.

Research Project Overview

This exciting research project delves into the realm of quantum protocols grounded in the concepts of quantum nonlocality and quantum networks. The project aims to explore a range of topics, including:

  • Characterizing quantum correlations beyond the Bell scenario through mathematical foundations (C* algebras, noncommutative polynomial optimization).
  • Developing algorithms for characterizing these correlations and implementing them numerically.
  • Investigating the foundational implications of quantum correlations in networks.
  • Exploring applications of network nonlocality to certification protocols, such as randomness generation, self-testing of measurements and states.
  • Adapting existing protocols for experimental implementation.
  • Developing practical benchmarks for 'Genuine Multipartite Nonlocality'.
  • Utilizing SDP relaxations for condensed matter problems.
  • Exploring the limits of quantum distributed computing.

The project welcomes further research proposals within the domain of quantum information theory.

Collaboration and Opportunities

This position is funded by a QuantERA project, involving a large European consortium. You will collaborate closely with Marc-Olivier Renou, other members of the group (Xiangling Xu, Lucas Tendick, Isadora Veeren, Titouan Carette, and Filippo Vicentini), as well as consortium members:

  • Mariami Gachechiladze (TU Darmstadt, Germany) and David Gross (Cologne)
  • Victor Magron (LAAS-CNRS, Toulouse, France)
  • Igor Klep (University of Ljubljana, Slovenia)
  • Antonio Acín (ICFO Barcelona, Spain)

Long stays within the groups of consortium members are encouraged.

Required Qualifications

The ideal candidate holds a PhD in computer science, physics, mathematics, or a related field. A strong publication record in quantum information theory is essential. Familiarity with Bell scenario, C* algebras, noncommutative polynomial optimization, and quantum distributed computing is highly desirable.

Benefits

INRIA offers a stimulating research environment, competitive compensation package, and opportunities for professional development.
