Retail Design Architect for European Expansion

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled European Retail Design Architect to lead store design initiatives from our modern Paris headquarters. This role is integral to our established and expanding store design team, collaborating closely with construction and development departments. This position offers a distinctive opportunity to facilitate UNIQLO's growth in Europe, bringing our LifeWear philosophy to a broader audience while working alongside colleagues from Europe and Japan.

Key Responsibilities:- Overseeing store design processes through all stages, from feasibility assessments to handover to the store management team.
- Collaborating with CAPEX and construction teams to establish project budgets.
- Analyzing and planning conceptual layouts to initiate projects.
- Engaging with store operations to define their needs and develop appropriate design sets, including layouts, facades, and RCP, in alignment with UNIQLO's design standards. Presenting, modifying proposals, and securing approvals from senior management and Global HQ.
- Partnering with construction and procurement teams to determine the quantity and quality of Owner-Furnished Equipment.
- Identifying and recommending cost-effective materials that align with the store concept.
- Managing handover conditions agreed upon with landlords in conjunction with the store development team.
- Defining the scope of work for local architects and overseeing the RFP process for candidates.
- Coordinating all phases with local architects from schematic design to the drawing/permit package.
- Supervising construction to resolve design-related site conflicts and ensure compliance with code requirements and UNIQLO's quality control standards.
- Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- 5 – 7 years of experience managing fashion retail design projects, from standard stores to flagship locations (700sqm+).
- Proven experience working in English with diverse stakeholders and senior executives.
- Background in negotiating and managing local architects.
- Proficiency in Business English is essential.
- Advanced skills in AutoCAD, with knowledge of Vectorworks and Revit.
- Competence in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with InDesign, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite is advantageous.
- Ability to communicate design concepts effectively in 3D and during site discussions.
- Willingness to travel to various EU cities weekly.
- Capacity to work both collaboratively and independently.
- Proficiency in managing multiple projects at different stages of advancement, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery despite tight schedules.
- Creative problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented mindset.
- Strong understanding of UNIQLO's brand visual identity and comprehensive knowledge of contemporary global retail design trends.
