Procurement Specialist for Cathode Active Materials

Job Overview:
Responsible for overseeing the procurement activities related to the Cathode Active Material Commodity, specifically LMFP. Play a key role in developing sourcing strategies, managing requests for quotations (RFQs), and leading quality, cost, and time (QCT) performance from the innovation phase through to mass production in collaboration with the Cathode Active Material Team Leader.
Cross-Functional Responsibilities:
Ensure the comprehensive application of the Purchasing Core Process within the organization, engaging and coordinating with all relevant stakeholders across various departments including Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing.
Supplier Relations:
Establish and maintain robust business relationships and partnerships with suppliers, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Main Responsibilities, Goals, and Key Performance Indicators:
Strategy Development:
Formulate and implement the sourcing strategy for Cathode Active Material - LMFP. Develop a roadmap for commodity cost reduction, focusing on commercial productivity, manufacturing excellence, and design-to-cost initiatives.
Contract Management:
Oversee the lifecycle management of CAM LMFP materials by ensuring contract execution and enhancing supplier performance in terms of savings, supply reliability, and quality. Monitor and report on Purchasing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and support purchase order activities and deliveries to production facilities.
Leadership in Procurement:
Lead and manage requests for information (RFIs), requests for quotations (RFQs), supplier selection, and contracting processes, working closely with project teams, engineering, quality assurance, and supply chain management.
Strategic Contribution:
Contribute to the development of technical, industrial, and purchasing strategies in collaboration with senior procurement professionals and relevant stakeholders. Support and promote industrial supplier initiatives within Europe. Aid in achieving cost competitiveness by meeting sourcing budgets and cost reduction targets. Challenge suppliers on energy consumption, carbon emissions, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) compliance.
Innovation Sharing:
Facilitate the sharing and promotion of supplier innovations that provide technical and economic advantages to the company. Uphold and enhance the company’s brand image, particularly in relation to ESG and carbon footprint reduction.
Required Skills:
Knowledge and Expertise:
Familiarity with Purchasing Key Processes (Panel Management, Sourcing, Contracting), negotiation skills, logistics principles, financial acumen, and legal knowledge.
Experience:
0 to 6 years of experience in direct procurement, purchasing, or industrial buying within the automotive, battery, or materials/chemistry sectors.
Qualifications:
Educational Background: Master’s degree in Engineering or Business with a specialization in Purchasing.
Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English is mandatory; knowledge of French, German, Italian, or Chinese is advantageous.
