Job Title: Senior Software Architect - Big Data Solutions
Business ContextAs a Senior Software Architect for the Big Data Solutions, you will be part of a dedicated team focused on developing the Big Data infrastructure within a cloud environment. Our goal is to deliver robust solutions for various business sectors, enabling them to manage their extensive data, analytics, business intelligence, machine learning, and Generative AI applications effectively. We prioritize the security of this platform while ensuring that data is consistently ingested, anonymized, and stored securely. Our team operates within an Agile framework, collaborating across multiple global locations.
Key Metrics of the Big Data Solutions:
- Over 12,000 daily processing tasks.
- Approximately 15PB of data managed within our architecture.
- Numerous application environments established for internal use and several innovation events conducted.
Achieving this scale has been made possible through our commitment to automation from the outset, utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies and adhering to DevOps principles.
General Responsibilities:
- Possess deep technical expertise to guide the team towards high performance. Recognized as a leader in the field, capable of mentoring junior engineers.
- Comprehend how key business drivers influence your domain. Evaluate complex challenges with widespread implications, enhance processes, propose solutions, and develop risk management strategies. Communicate intricate information effectively.
- Operate with a significant degree of independence, following management guidance. Lead initiatives or contribute to extensive cross-functional projects and the overall technological strategy of the division.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Technical Mastery:
- Deliver high-quality code efficiently.
- Engage in all phases of the product development lifecycle, including drafting technical specifications, leading feasibility assessments, project scheduling, and identifying dependencies and enhancements.
- Investigate and analyze complex software and system issues, providing actionable recommendations.
- Address problems and troubleshoot promptly while maintaining high engagement levels.
- Develop applications that are easy to monitor and manage, enhancing infrastructure reliability.
- Implement best practices for code quality and security through mastery of non-functional requirements, code reviews, coding standards, unit testing, and refactoring.
- Technological Proficiency – possess interdisciplinary knowledge (e.g., UI, networking).
Continuous Improvement:
- Propose enhancements to components and offer strategies for managing technical debt and codebase maintenance.
- Enhance the technical aspects of project delivery and provide recommendations for engineering process improvements.
Building Collaborative Teams & Knowledge Sharing:
- Foster effective collaboration and communication with colleagues.
- Consistently engage successfully in projects and work with cross-functional teams to drive operational and service excellence.
- Participate in community events related to engineering.
- Contribute to cultural transformation and talent development through mentoring junior team members.
- Act as an advocate for developers by participating in innovation events, recruitment initiatives, and conferences, as well as engaging in open-source projects.
- Over 10 years of experience in software development.
- Demonstrated resilience and patience in a development environment.
- Strong expertise in implementation and deployment automation.
- Excellent communication skills, customer-focused mindset, creative problem-solving abilities, and influencing capabilities.
- Proficient in English.
- Understanding of platform business models (consumers/providers) is advantageous.
- Experience with Agile methodologies (SAFe preferred) is a plus.
